Job Purpose
The Business Manager role is responsible for ensuring the efficiency of business operations as well as setting strategic goals for the future in a manner which incorporates the Company’s vision and culture. The Business Manager ensures the profitability of the Company’s activities to drive sustainable development and long term success. The Business Manager will collaborate closely with staff members every day to monitor all the projects they perform and identify any potential areas for improvement.
Major Responsibilities
- Design and implement business plans and proactive strategies to promote the attainment of goals and objectives that tend to growth and prosperity.
- Assess and identify new opportunities for growth in current and prospective markets.
- Ensure that the company has the adequate and suitable resources to complete its activities (e.g., people, material, equipment etc.)
- Evaluates and/or negotiates contracts for the purchase of goods and services in conjunction with the Supply Chain Department.
Maintain relationships with partners/vendors/suppliers.
Create capture tactics for sales targets that are in line with the objectives of the
practice area and the business model.
- Provide data analytics of sales, distributors, and partners to relevant management teams.
- Create and maintain rolling three- month plan for forecasting, targeting and attaining sales targets.
- Maintain current information as to trends and development in business and present input into the creation and development of marketing materials to support demand generation for the business unit.
- Manage project budgets, billing, collections, and the financial performance of engagements.
- Prepare cost proposals help for designated programmes and development of price research and pricing strategy for the business portifolio.
- Develop and implement systems and processes to establish and maintain records of the operating business unit.
- Coordinate the preparation of reports of disbursement, special analyses, and information reports on expenses, activities, results, market position, and projections with accuracy and promptness.
- Gather, analyse and interpret external and internal data and compile monthly, quarterly, and annual reports for the business portifolio.
- Lead the preparation and finalisation of comprehensive annual budgets and formal budget revisions as required for the business unit in conjunction with Finance Department.
- Present recommendations for changes and/or improvements, monetary control, and adherence to budgets.
- Oversee the supervision of personnel, which includes work allocation, training, promotion enforcement of internal procedures and controls, and problem resolution, evaluates performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions, motivate employees to achieve peak performance and productivity.
- Provide feedback and counsel to improve efficiency and effectiveness through a well-managed performance evaluation system that improves employee morale.
- Manage the selection, hiring, orienting, onboarding, of staff to ensure optimal human resource requirements to support the business objectives.
- Organize and coordinate operations in ways that ensure maximum productivity.
- Ensure all company activities adhere to legal policies and guidelines.
- Represent the organisation at various community and/or business meetings, committees, task forces, events, conferences etc. to promote existing and new programs and/or policies.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Full Grade 12 Certificate.
- Must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field. An MBA/ MSc/ MA is a plus.
- Proven experience as business manager or relevant role.
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills.
- Thorough understanding of diverse business processes and operations management.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, databases and information systems.
