Summary of the Position
The Compliance Associate will report directly to the Director of Compliance and serve as a key contributor in maintaining and enhancing the company’s regulatory framework. This role goes beyond administrative licensing work and provides exposure to admitted and non-admitted products, carrier due diligence, regulatory research, and delegated authority oversight within the Managing General Agent (MGA) context.
The ideal candidate will have insurance compliance experience and a working understanding of state insurance regulations, producer licensing, filing requirements, and MGA operational structures. This position is well-suited for a professional seeking to grow within a sophisticated and expanding compliance environment.
Position Functions
Licensing & Registrations
- Manage and maintain producer, adjuster, and business entity licensing across all applicable jurisdictions
- Oversee carrier appointments and related regulatory requirements
- Ensure timely renewals and compliance with state insurance department directives
Admitted & Non-Admitted Compliance
- Support compliance efforts for both admitted and surplus lines products
- Assist in monitoring state-specific regulatory requirements applicable to MGA operations
- Track and maintain documentation related to filing obligations, surplus lines compliance, and regulatory notices
Carrier & Audit Support
- Serve as a primary support contact for carrier due diligence reviews and regulatory audits
- Maintain organized repositories of brokerage agreements, agency documentation, E&O certificates, financials, and related materials
- Assist in responding to audit inquiries from domestic and international markets
Regulatory Research & Governance
- Conduct research on insurance statutes, bulletins, and regulatory updates affecting company operations
- Assist in the development and documentation of internal compliance policies and procedures
- Support expansion initiatives by analyzing regulatory requirements in new states or product lines
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner with underwriting, operations, claims, and finance teams to identify and mitigate compliance risks
- Proactively identify areas for process improvement and documentation enhancement
- Participate in special projects tied to new products, carrier relationships, or operational scaling
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The candidate should be customer service orientated, demonstrate a positive attitude and the ability to share knowledge and work effectively in a team environment with all levels of company staff as well as with carriers, regulators, and agency partners; posses strong professional verbal and written communication skills, strong mathematical skills, strong time management and organizational skills; and analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects independently in a fast-paced office environment. And posses a high level of discretion and confidentiality.
Minimum Requirements
- 2–5 years of insurance compliance, regulatory, or licensing experience
- Working knowledge of state insurance regulations, producer licensing, and MGA structures
- Familiarity with admitted and/or non-admitted products
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to interpret insurance department directives and regulatory bulletins
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Other Requirements
- Experience within an MGA or wholesale brokerage environment
- Exposure to surplus lines compliance
- Experience supporting carrier audits or due diligence reviews
- Experience with regulatory filings or state form/rate filing environments
Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit and work quietly for extended periods of time, operate a computer, and answer and communicate on a telephone.

Working Conditions
Business-casual fast paced multi-tasking office environment.
Hours of Operations
This position supports our marketing efforts internationally. This position's work hours are Monday through Friday 9am - 5pm, in a hybrid work environment. Our hybrid environment is 3 days within our business-casual office environment. Of these 3 days in the office, Wednesday and Thursday are required, and employees may work from home the other 2 days. Our employees choose their schedule. This position requires occasional flexibility for working additional hours to accomplish project objectives.
