Role Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer to help design, build, and scale software solutions that improve estate planning outcomes for advisors, attorneys, internal teams, and end users. This role combines deep technical expertise, rigorous thinking, dedication with strong product thinking, cross-functional collaboration, and leadership within the software development lifecycle.
The Senior Software Engineer will lead the development of high-quality, own the architecture, technical debt, revenue, and costs of your features This role is expected to drive best practices in software design and delivery, and build systems that support intuitive user experiences, operational efficiency, and innovation across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performing software applications and services.
- Serve as a senior technical contributor across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through deployment and support.
- Build solutions that improve the estate planning experience for advisors, attorneys, internal teams, and end users.
- Partner with product, design, operations, and business stakeholders to translate business needs into practical technical solutions.
- Own system architecture and technical design decisions with a focus on maintainability, scalability, security, and performance.
Lead and participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, consistency, and adherence to engineering standards. - If appropriate, mentor junior and mid-level engineers by providing technical guidance, feedback, and support for professional development.
- Work to build AI functionality.
- Develop and improve tools and workflows that support:
- creation, maintenance, and settlement of estate plans
- trust funding workflows
- reporting and internal process automation
- Template & document generation, processing, and storage
- onboarding and attorney review workflows
- deed-related processes
- integrations with advisor and attorney CRMs and other third-party systems
- Help create flexible document template systems and tools that can be configured or adjusted by non-developers where appropriate.
- Support the development and integration of intelligent document processing, NLP, and AI-driven capabilities.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production and non-production environments.
- Promote engineering best practices related to coding standards, testing, CI/CD, observability, documentation, and secure development.
- Stay current on emerging technologies and recommend improvements that align with company goals and product strategy.

Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may be considered.
- 8–10+ years of professional software engineering experience, including experience building and maintaining production-grade applications.
- Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, including modern development using Node.js (or Bun) and React.
- Experience designing and building distributed systems, APIs, integrations, and cloud-based applications.
- Experience working with one or more major cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, data structures, design patterns, and engineering best practices.
- Experience with code reviews, automated testing, version control, and modern CI/CD workflows.
- Proven ability to solve complex technical problems and make sound engineering decisions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively across teams.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in highly regulated, document-heavy, or workflow-intensive industries such as legal tech, fintech, health tech, or estate planning.
- Experience with document generation, parsing, OCR, intelligent document processing, or workflow automation.
- Experience building CRM integrations or integrating with third-party APIs and external platforms.
- Experience with NLP, AI/ML, or LLM-based solutions in production environments.
- Experience designing systems that support configurable templates, rules engines, or low-code/no-code administrative tools.
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing technical direction across teams.
- Familiarity with secure software development practices and data privacy considerations.

Work Environment / Physical Demands
