Position Summary
Compensation - $65,000 - $75,000
Location - Oakbrook Terrace, IL
The Human Resources Specialist supports daily HR operations and serves as a key resource for employees and managers. This role is responsible for executing core HR functions including employee relations support, recruitment coordination, onboarding, HR compliance, benefits administration, and HR data management. The HR Specialist helps ensure a positive employee experience while maintaining compliance with company policies and employment laws.
Key Responsibilities
Employee Relations & HR Support
- Serve as a first point of contact for employee questions regarding HR policies, procedures, and programs
- Support managers with performance management documentation and employee relations matters
- Assist with investigations, conflict resolution, and disciplinary processes
- Maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information
Recruitment & Onboarding
- Coordinate recruitment activities including job postings, interview scheduling, and candidate communication
- Conduct initial candidate screenings and assist hiring managers throughout the hiring process
- Facilitate onboarding activities to ensure a smooth new hire experience
- Maintain applicant tracking system (ATS) records and hiring documentation
Benefits & HR Administration
- Assist employees with benefits enrollment, changes, and general inquiries
- Support open enrollment planning and communication
- Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS systems
- Prepare HR reports related to headcount, turnover, and hiring metrics
Compliance & Policy Administration
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws
- Support HR audits and maintain required employment documentation
- Assist with policy updates and employee handbook maintenance
- Partner with payroll to ensure accurate employee data and changes
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred
- 2–4 years of HR experience
- Knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices
- Experience with HRIS and applicant tracking systems
- Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- HR certification (SHRM-CP, PHR)
- Experience supporting employee relations or full-cycle recruiting
- Healthcare, distribution, or corporate HR experience
