Position Overview
The Accounting Director is responsible for leading and overseeing all accounting functions for Capitol Aggregates and Arcline Ready Mix. This role ensures the accuracy, integrity, and timeliness of financial reporting while maintaining strong internal controls and compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
This position serves as a strategic partner to operational leadership, providing financial insight, supporting business decisions, and driving continuous improvement across accounting processes and systems.
What You'll Do
- Lead all accounting operations across Capitol Aggregates and Arcline Ready Mix, including general ledger, month-end close, financial reporting, managerial reporting, and account reconciliations.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Oversee and review journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analyses to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Establish, maintain, and enforce strong internal controls and accounting policies in alignment with GAAP and company standards.
- Partner with operations leadership to provide financial insights, cost analysis, and decision support.
- Lead the annual audit process, including coordination with external auditors and preparation of required documentation.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, tax filings, and reporting obligations.
- Oversee fixed asset accounting, inventory accounting, and cost accounting processes across plant operations.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve accounting processes, systems, and reporting efficiency.
- Develop, mentor, and manage the accounting team, including setting performance expectations and providing ongoing coaching.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes in partnership with finance leadership.

Required Skills and Abilities

- Advanced knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, managerial accounting, and internal controls.
- Ability to analyze complex financial data and translate insights into clear, actionable recommendations.

- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency in ERP systems (such as SAP or similar platforms) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills

Education & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration preferred.
- Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Certified Managerial Accountant (CMA) designation required.
- Minimum of eight to twelve (8–12) years of progressive accounting experience, with at least three to five (3–5) years in a leadership role.
- Experience overseeing accounting operations across multiple business units or locations preferred.
- Strong experience in general ledger, financial reporting, consolidations, and internal controls.
- Experience in manufacturing, aggregates, cement, construction, or other industrial environments preferred.
