Employee will be responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining large machines and heavy-duty equipment, focusing on mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems. They also perform routine maintenance, using hand and power tools, and specialized equipment. The equipment that will be worked on are as follows but not limited to: asphalt pavers, loaders, graders, excavators, skid steers, water trucks, haul trucks and other equipment used in the road construction.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Inspects heavy equipment for malfunctions, using diagnostic tools and equipment to ensure the continued and safe operation of all mechanical, gasoline and diesel-powered equipment on job sites.
2. Repairs or replaces defective parts, components, or systems. Operate and inspect machines to diagnose defects, faults and malfunctions using engine diagnostic calibrated devices.
3. Performs routine maintenance, including cleaning, lubricating, and servicing equipment. Examine parts for damage, excessive wear and malfunctions using micrometers, gauges, volt meters and calibrated devices. Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine and preventative maintenance on equipment, vehicles, tools and assets.
4. Ensures compliance with safety standards and regulations. Test mechanical products and equipment after repairs or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers’ specifications.
5. Understands and applies knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems specific to heavy equipment.
6. Ensure the continued and safe operation of all mechanical, gasoline and diesel-powered equipment.
7. Operate and inspect machines in order to diagnose defects, faults and malfunctions using engine diagnostic equipment, computerized test equipment and calibrated devices.
8. Examine parts for damage, excessive wear and malfunctions using micrometers, gauges, volt meters and calibrated devices.
9. Dismantle, repair, replace and reassemble damaged and worn parts using hoists, hand tools, jacks and physical strength.
10. Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.
11. Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine and preventative maintenance on equipment, vehicles, tools and assets.
12. Maintains detailed records of maintenance and repair activities by using online software and computer technology to secure documentation and processing.
13. Schedule maintenance and preventative maintenance for machines; process and submit requests for Purchasing Orders for tools and parts.
14. Schedule maintenance and preventative maintenance for machines and equipment while keeping methodical service records and minute documentation.
15. Communicates with operators and other mechanics to identify and resolve equipment issues.
16. Orders and managing the inventory of spare parts and tools.
17. May be required to travel to job sites to repair or service equipment.
18. Observe all company and customer policies and safety requirements.
