Position Overview
This position is for a Cloud Storage / Commvault Backup Engineer to provide engineering, operational, and technical support for enterprise backup, recovery, and cloud storage environments.
The role supports a large-scale, geographically dispersed enterprise environment and is responsible for designing, implementing, troubleshooting, and maintaining Commvault backup solutions, cloud storage platforms, and enterprise data protection operations (COOP). The engineer will support mission-critical systems ensuring data availability, integrity, and compliance with security standards.

Position is 100% remote with periodic onsite requirements
Must live in the Richardson, TX / Dallas, TX area
Must be willing to support onsite work in data centers as needed
The primary scope of duties include
- Design, configure, implement, and support Commvault backup and recovery solutions across enterprise environments
- Provide engineering support for cloud storage, SAN infrastructure, and hybrid cloud environments
- Troubleshoot complex backup, recovery, storage, and replication issues across multi-platform systems
- Monitor and maintain enterprise storage environments across distributed locations
- Support data replication, synchronization, and multi-site storage architectures
- Perform capacity planning, analytics, and reporting within Commvault platforms
- Implement security updates, patches, and compliance requirements for backup systems
- Support enterprise infrastructure operations including backup, restore, and disaster recovery processes
- Work with operations teams to ensure timely response to backup, restore, and data replication requests
- Provide onsite troubleshooting support within data centers when required
Minimum Candidate Requirements
- 6+ years of experience in the following areas:
- Commercial and hybrid cloud-based storage
- SAN switching and storage infrastructure
- Storage-as-a-Service (STaaS)
- Cloud-based virtualization
- Experience supporting enterprise backup and recovery solutions in large-scale environments
- Strong knowledge of technical and security best practices, engineering design, and operational support
Security Requirements
Must be able to obtain up to Top Secret Clearance
(Candidates may start with Interim Secret Clearance)
Scope of Work and Requirements
- Administer and support Commvault enterprise backup systems, including configuration, optimization, and troubleshooting
- Monitor and maintain internal storage environments across distributed enterprise systems
- Configure and manage backup policies, schedules, and retention strategies
- Troubleshoot backup failures across networking, application, hardware, and storage layers
- Support Windows Server and Linux environments, including file system permissions and storage configurations
- Implement and support cloud object storage and multi-site synchronization strategies
- Apply security and compliance requirements to backup and storage systems
- Perform vulnerability assessments, patch management, and audit support activities
- Support WAN-based backup and replication solutions across geographically dispersed systems
- Maintain documentation, operational procedures, and compliance artifacts
Skill Sets Anticipated
- Strong expertise in Commvault backup and recovery platforms
- Experience with cloud storage platforms and hybrid cloud architectures
- Knowledge of SAN infrastructure, storage arrays, and switching technologies
- Strong understanding of Windows Server and Linux systems administration
- Experience with data synchronization, replication, and storage optimization
- Familiarity with enterprise storage platforms including:
- EMC Unity / Isilon (PowerScale)
- Pure Storage Arrays and FlashBlade
- IBM Cloud Object Storage (IBM COS)
- Panzura / CTERA
- Experience with virtualization platforms such as VMware vSphere / ESXi
- Experience with Cisco MDS SAN switching
- Knowledge of DFS Management and enterprise file systems
- Experience with backup, restore, and disaster recovery operations

- Commvault Certified Professional
- Commvault Certified Specialist – Disaster Recovery
- CompTIA Cloud+
- Certificate of Cloud Security Knowledge (CCSK)
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate
