Job Title: Peer Recovery Coach- SUD (Substance Use Disorder)Reports To: Clinical Supervisor Job Summary: Offers support services from a peer perspective to individuals with a primary diagnosis of substance use disorder. Actively maintains personal recovery outside of UCS Healthcare including support groups, counseling, therapy, and sober recreation.Operates in alignment with UCS Healthcare core values. Is a team player, provides patient centered care and strives to provide the highest level of care. Federal, State, and Local level. They will also adhere to all UCS policies and procedures, including patient confidentiality, HIPAA/ 42CFR part 2, and all CARF requirements. All team members will operate in alignment with UCS Healthcare’s core values, work effectively in a team environment, provide or support patient-centered services, and strive to assist UCS Healthcare in delivering the highest level of care. Essential Functions: (75%)Works with UCS SUD Patients in a variety of ways to assist them in regaining control over their lives and recovery process. Including but not limited to: Serving as an advocate-for and assisting clients in developing empowerment skills and combating stigma through self-advocacyProvides information and support for individuals in emergency, outpatient settings as well as transitional services.Role models competency in recovery, ongoing coping skills and self-help strategiesAssist patients in developing personal goals for recovery.Teach and role model the value of own individual recovery experience.Assist clients in working with their treatment team in determining the steps he/she needs to take in order to achieve goals and self-directed recoveryCo-facilitation of UCS groupsFoster relationship with Peers from other agencies to facilitate warm hand offs and engage in collaboration in recovery communities.Coordinate and track all patients receiving Peer Recovery Services in UCS systems electronic health records.Complete Relias, Mandatory Reporter for Adult and Child Abuse, and other training as identified by the Clinical Supervisor
Obtain and maintain Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) certification by meeting Iowa Board of Certification criteria. UCS will provide supervision of hours toward becoming a PRS and assist with the application process.Other Functions:Attend meetings as assigned by Clinical Supervisor. (10%)Collaborate with other UCS Team Members and support recovery programming(10%)Other duties as assigned (5%)Minimum Required Education, Skills and Experience: At least two years of substance use disorder recovery. Completion of the Connecticut Community for Addiction Recovery (CCAR) Recovery training(30hours). Completion of Ethical Considerations for Recovery Coaches (16hour).Excellent verbal and written communication skills, empathetic, ability to develop a supportive relationship, ability to teach problem solving techniques. Actively maintains personal recovery outside of UCS. This includes support groups, counseling, therapy, and sober recreation.Preferred Education, Skills and Experience: Peer Recovery Specialist (PRS) certification as awarded by the Iowa Board of CertificationExperience with Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP)Experience with Brief Assessment of Recovery Capital(BARK-10)
