About the role
- Cloudpoint Geospatial is seeking a Business Development Technician (BDT) to support growth within our Local Government practice, with a focus on the Eastern United States. This role is responsible for converting targeted outreach into qualified discovery conversations that drive net-new and expansion revenue. The ideal candidate is curious, organized, comfortable initiating conversations, and eager to learn how geospatial technology supports public-sector organizations

What you'll do
- Conduct market research to identify and build targeted prospect lists aligned with Cloudpoint’s Ideal Customer Profile (ICP)
- Research and identify key decision-makers within target organizations (e.g., Directors, Department Heads, Operations Managers, Technical Leads)
- Monitor target accounts for trigger events such as staffing changes, new initiatives, or upcoming projects
- Conduct outbound prospecting through phone, email, and LinkedIn to initiate conversations and uncover GIS needs
- Engage prospects through social channels by sharing relevant content and interacting with professional updates
- Coordinate and schedule discovery calls with Account Managers and technical team members
- Provide Account Managers with prospect intelligence and context prior to discovery meetings
- Support marketing campaigns, webinars, and events by inviting and following up with prospective attendees
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation of all activities, outreach, and intelligence within the CRM
- Participate in monthly meetings and provide regular activity summaries
- Regular collaboration with Sales and Marketing leadership
- Frequent use of phone, email, LinkedIn, and CRM systems
Within the first 90 days, a successful BDT will independently generate qualified conversations, clearly articulate Cloudpoint’s value proposition, and deliver high-quality discovery handoffs.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or degree preferred
- Strong communication skills and comfort level engaging in professional conversations
- General technical or IT aptitude and willingness to learn GIS concepts
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently while collaborating with a small team
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in sales development, lead generation, customer outreach, or research roles
- Familiarity with CRM systems or sales tools
- Interest in technology, GIS, or public-sector solutions
- Involvement in extracurricular activities, volunteer work, or leadership experiences
The pay range for this role is:20 - 25 USD per hour(Metamora, IL)
