Paralegal

DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
-
Performs, in accordance with established policies and procedures, a variety of duties to assist Senior Paralegal, Associate General Counsel, and Vice President & General Counsel; manages documentary aspects of various legal matters, employment contracts, and corporate and transactional matters.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)

Experience:
-
Minimum of 3 years' experience as a paralegal in a law office or commercial business.

Education and Training:
-
Knowledge of legal principles and practices, in both corporate and transactional matters, at a level normally acquired through formal paralegal training or its equivalent in experience.

Other Requirements:

Highest degree of discretion and ability to maintain strict confidence as to all matters.

Ability to organize and prioritize numerous tasks and complete them under frequently severe time constraints.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.

Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to pay close attention to detail when evaluating legal matters (constituting approximately 80% of work time).

Ability to work occasionally more than 40 hours a week and occasionally at irregular hours.

Interpersonal skills necessary in order to communicate in person, by telephone and electronically with a diverse (and occasionally divergent) range of audiences with discretion, ordinary courtesy and tact.

Ability to maintain office files, including timely retrieval.
