About Sperra Sperra is transforming how marine infrastructure is built using large-scale 3D concrete printing. We design and manufacture advanced concrete structures for ocean energy, reef restoration, coastal protection, and sustainable marine development. By integrating robotics, materials science, and structural engineering, we turn research into real-world solutions. At Sperra, we are proving that technology and restoration can work together and that infrastructure can be both resilient and alive.
About Aqaba Development Corporation Aqaba Development Corporation (ADC), the central development arm of the Aqaba Special Economic Zone Authority (ASEZA), was launched in 2004. ADC, which is owned by the Government of Jordan and ASEZA, is mandated to build new infrastructure and required superstructure, expand existing utilities, create necessary business enablers and manage/operate key facilities for the Aqaba Special Economic Zone (ASEZ). ADC owns the ports, airport, and strategic parcels of land. It also has the development/management rights for these assets and key infrastructure and utilities. It strives to develop these assets and optimize private sector participation in their development and management to stimulate the economy and promote growth and development of ASEZ and, thus, Jordan.
Who You Are You are an experienced technical leader who thrives at the intersection of engineering, operations, robotic construction, and innovation. You are comfortable managing a facility, leading a multidisciplinary technical team, and solving challenges in a dynamic environment that blends R&D and production. You bring both practical experience and adaptability, and you can mentor local staff while maintaining high safety and quality standards. You are a hands-on leader who is comfortable working directly on the floor during print days, supporting equipment setup, live printing, troubleshooting, and cleanup alongside the team. You lead by example and understand that successful 3D printing operations require active, on-site involvement.
What You’ll Do As the 3DCP Facility Lead, you will oversee daily operations at the Aqaba Marine Park 3D Printing Center and serve as Sperra’s on-site representative in Jordan. You will direct and support printing operations, supervise ADC-employed staff, manage safety and compliance, build local capacity in 3D concrete printing, and oversee 3D printing of concrete infrastructure for marine and civil works. Key responsibilities include: Manage day-to-day operations, scheduling, production planning, and reporting. Supervise Design Engineer, Lead Printing Technician, Mechanical Technician, Materials/QC Technician, and Facilities & Maintenance Assistant. Lead commissioning, calibration, and safe operation of the Vertico 3DCP system. Work hands-on with the team during print days, supporting equipment setup, printing, troubleshooting, and post-print cleanup. Oversee batching, printing, curing, and testing of 3D printed components. Coordinate R&D activities with Sperra’s U.S.-based engineering and materials teams and key project partners such as Voyacy Regen. Implement and enforce Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for safety, maintenance, and quality control. Ensure compliance with ASEZA and Jordanian Ministry of Labor requirements and Sperra’s OSHA-aligned safety practices. Lead on-the-job training for local technical staff to build long-term operational capacity. Serve as primary liaison between Sperra, ADC, and key project partners and facility stakeholders. Document operational data, print performance, QC results, and incident reports. Support procurement, logistics, spare parts management, and contractor coordination.
Qualifications Required Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Industrial, or related engineering field. 5+ years experience in operations, manufacturing, construction, or R&D environments. Experience with 3D concrete printing or large-scale automated/robotic systems. Demonstrated success supervising multidisciplinary technical teams. Strong mechanical aptitude and familiarity with pumps, mixers, and automation equipment. Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Fluent in English; Arabic proficiency strongly preferred.
Preferred Advanced degree (M.S. or Ph.D.) in engineering or materials science. Background in concrete mix design, testing, or structural fabrication. Experience in marine, coastal, or environmental engineering. Experience launching and leading new technical facilities or programs.
What You’ll Get Full-time employment based in Aqaba with Sperra, seconded to ADC. Competitive salary commensurate with experience. Transportation and travel included. Comprehensive onboarding and technical training by Sperra in Aqaba. Occasional travel to Sperra’s U.S. facilities. Opportunity to lead one of the world’s first marine-focused 3D printing centers. Career development within a growing engineering startup. A hands-on role shaping sustainable marine infrastructure in Aqaba.
Why Join Sperra This is a rare opportunity to establish and lead a first-of-its-kind marine 3D printing facility. You will build local capacity, contribute to groundbreaking technologies, and help define the future of coastal and subsea infrastructure in Jordan and beyond.
