The Canadian Mental Health Association Brant Haldimand Norfolk branch (CMHA BHN) has an exciting opportunity for a Relief Mental Health Worker to join our team in both our Simcoe and Brantford, ON locations.
Position Summary: This position works out of our Simcoe Crisis Stabilization Bed Service location at 189 Norfolk Street South in Simcoe, as well as our Brant Safe Bed Service location at 84 Brant Avenue in Brantford, and provides support to persons experiencing acute mental health crisis and / or contact with the justice system, in a residential setting utilizing a Psychosocial Rehabilitation & Recovery model. Hours of Work: The position covers staff vacancies, including day and overnight shifts. Shifts are generally 12 hours in length but may be pro-rated.
Wage Rate: starting at $23.63
Position Responsibilities:
- Support a caseload of clientele – Current residents of CSB or BSB.
- Work in collaboration with the CSB/BSB case manager, Addiction worker, Peer support, and MHW Team Lead, and Supervisors.
- Provide supportive counselling and intervention techniques to promote recovery and skills enhancement.
- Prepare, monitor & evaluate goal & action plans with clients (ie: OCANs) with a focus on positive outcomes and client recovery.
- Work cooperatively with community partners to assist with goal achievement.
- Facilitate group skill teaching sessions as appropriate and/or necessary.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of a natural support network with clients, their family & friends.
- Assist clients with symptom and medication management.
- Encourage and facilitate the development, review and maintaining of a Priority Intervention or Crisis Plan with every client to promote proactive prevention and intervention strategies.
- Form linkages with informal caregivers wherever possible.
- Advocate on behalf of and with the client when necessary.
- Meet the immediate safety needs of clientele when necessary and appropriate.
- Make every effort to ensure the coordinated and continued provision of required services to the client.
- Support agency housing tenants during after-hour emergencies.
Compensation details: 23.63 Hourly Wage
