Summary: This position is responsible for the testing, troubleshooting and repair of PMA and vendor products electronic components, parts, equipment, electrical circuitry, electronic and electrical testing and sharing administration duties with the team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Repair electronic components (radio remote controls, control boxes, and other electronic components) using engineering instructions, technical manuals, schematics, and knowledge of electronic systems and components.
- Keep accurate and detailed repair history and documentation of repairs completed.
- Modify and maintain existing test benches, and establish new test benches as needed to ensure precise testing of electronic systems under development.
- Analyzes faults and root causes of issues on a vendor’s product using schematics and other technical data.
- Coordinate with technical personnel from the vendor or other internal departments to discover solutions when there is a requirement for more information/technical knowledge for any given repair.
- Provide technical support via phone, e-mail, and text message to internal, external customers, and dealers on the products being serviced.
- Provide Quotations for the repair work or replacement of equipment and contact customers regarding required work / replacement and subsequent customer contact.
- Determine if repair needs to be warrantied, or if a warranty is voided due to abuse or damages.
- Adjusts, calibrates, and modifies systems and components and records effects on unit performance.
- May check functioning of newly installed equipment in products to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
- Shared responsibilities with the team in admin for the department (picture documentation, receiving boxes, inventory maintenance, loaner radio fleet maintenance).
- Operate drills, soldering iron, or other small tools to repair/replace parts.
- Perform other tasks as directed.
Qualifications:
- Proficient in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and SAP, to ensure accurate repair history documentation, inventory management, and pricing.
- Ability to set up and analyze circuits utilizing oscilloscopes and multimeters.
- Strong soldering/de-soldering skills.
- Verifiable knowledge and experience in applying the principles of electronics, electrical circuitry, engineering mathematics, and electronic/electrical circuit testing.
- Detail oriented individual with strong analytical problem-solving skills.
- Able to work in a group (team) and be able to be self-motivated/ self-driven.
- Must understand and be able to use Metric system.
- Solid verbal and written communication skills.
Education/Certification/Training:
- Minimum two years’ experience in electronic/electrical repair in industrial or mobile hydraulic applications.
- Electronic Engineering Technology Associate’s degree or equivalent desired.
- On-the-job training.
Work Environment/Physical Demands:
- The physical environment requires the employee to work both inside and occasionally outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials.
- Ability to continuously stand or walk; and the ability to bend, squat, climb stairs, and lift frequently.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds; occasionally lift and/or move up to 70 pounds.
