Centrum Surgery Center is looking for a Registered Nurse, Operating Room to join our team's San Antonio, TX location!
SUMMARY:
The Registered Nurse, Operating Room is responsible for direct patient care effectively and efficiently, which may include patients with varied and complex needs. Additionally, assumes leadership roles with progressive responsibility to maintain patient care and safety.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care in the operating room.
• Develops, implements, and updates individualized care plans in collaboration with patients and families.
• Performs timely and thorough patient assessments; modifies care based on ongoing evaluations.
• Prepares the operating room according to patient and procedural requirements.
• Directs and supervises patient care within an assigned operating room.
• Reviews medical records and collaborates with the healthcare team to ensure coordinated care.
• Ensures patient privacy, dignity, and comfort at all times.
• Assists in identifying and confirming the correct surgical site.
• Accurately comprehends and follows verbal orders and instructions.
• Completes all required documentation and patient care responsibilities accurately and promptly.
• Assists with ensuring surgical supplies and equipment are available and ready for use.
• Provides patient education and emotional support as needed.
• Collaborates with the healthcare team and communicates changes in patient status appropriately.
• Acts as a clinical resource and mentor to staff.
• Addresses patient care concerns, staff conflicts, and unusual occurrences with the supervisor.
• Ensures a safe environment for patients, staff, physicians, and visitors by following safety protocols and reporting incidents.
• Oversees efficient operating room turnover and helps resolve scheduling issues.
• Directs and delegates daily operational checks, ensuring compliance with policies and protocols.
• Collaborates with medical staff to meet regulatory and accreditation standards.
• Follows all facility policies, procedures, and safety regulations.
• Responds quickly to changes in patient condition or priorities.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

• Knowledgeable in intra-operative nursing care, IV therapy, vital signs monitoring, and infection control precautions.
• Basic proficiency with computer systems and electronic documentation.
• Exhibits physical and mental readiness to respond to changes in patient condition or priorities.
• Practices nursing within the scope of the Texas Nurse Practice Act, maintaining accountability for actions.
• Engages in continuing education and meets all mandatory training requirements.
• Demonstrates collaborative communication and teamwork to deliver high-quality care.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
• Associates Degree in Nursing
• Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
• Two (2) years of Intra-Operative Care experience
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certified or must be obtained within thirty 30 days of hire
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certified or must be obtained within 30 days of hire
• Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified or must be obtained within 60 days of hire.
