SCHEDULE:
This is a full-time, Monday-Friday, in-person role that may take you into the community to meet the needs of your clients. You may be asked to cover holiday shifts and special events as needed.
ABOUT DE COLORES
CPLC De Colores provides a safe, secure place for families to heal from the traumatizing effects of domestic violence, sexual violence, and human trafficking. Shelter and community-based services meet survivors where they are to help them discover their strengths and regain their freedom.
The De Colores Shelter provides emergency housing, case management, legal and housing support, support groups, transportation, youth services, housing and employment support, and referrals to other resources. We offer nurturing spaces for survivors and their families to heal, including a meditation room, a garden, and a special area for youth activities.
ABOUT THE ROLE
Provide legal advocacy on behalf of the women and children in the shelter. Support and educate the women as they interact with legal institutions and complete legal activities required to ensure their safety and security while at De Colores and as they become independent.
- Assist clients in creating safety plans and individualized legal plans.
- Provide translation support for legal documents.
- Provide group sessions on legal topics.
- Travel to attend court hearings and outreach as needed.
- Participate in De Colores program activities, team meetings and planning

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Required: High School Diploma or GED and 3 years’ experience.

- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Possess a valid driver’s license and the ability to be insured under the automobile insurance policy.
- Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) required.
- Able to work with individuals and families who have experienced domestic violence.
- Experience with the judicial system.
- Must be minimum 21 years old to work in shelter.
- Able to obtain CPR and First Aid.
- Must have a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card or be able to receive one within 60 days of employment.
