About the role
Under the supervision of the Clinic Supervisor and Medical Director, the Veterinary Assistant is responsible for assisting the medical team in examining and monitoring animal patients, performing administrative tasks, and maintaining clean and sanitary conditions in the exam and operating rooms. What you'll do
- Assiststhe medical teamwith surgeries during spay/neuter clinic(in-house and mobile).
- Supports themedical teamwith PIN surgeries including charting, surgical prep, and recovery.
- Assistsmedical teamwith administration oftreatments forallshelter animals(medications, flea preventatives, vaccinations, medicated baths,and de-wormers).
- Performs administrative duties (charting, documenting inventory, orderingsuppliesand data entry).
- Answers phones,schedulesappointments for foster program,and relays messagestotheMedical Director, asrequired.
- Cleans/ organizesmedical department, performsroutine equipmentmaintenance,andcreatessurgical packs.
- Handlesand restraintsof public and PIN animals.
- Underthe Clinic Supervisorsupervisionupdatesdrug logsin accordance withCA laws and codes.
- KeepsPIN van stocked, preps,and cleansmobile clinics.
- Performs other duties asrequired.escribe the specific responsibilities and job functions of the role
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- High School Diplomaor a GEDandone year of experience in veterinaryclinic, veterinaryhospital, and/or animal shelter or controlfacility,or a combination of education and experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Must have strong people skillsand outstanding organizational skills.
- Experience in caring for and handling animals in a safe, effective, andhumanemanner.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Physically strong and dexterous, and ability to stand for extended periods.
- Must be able to bend and kneel repeatedly.
- Must havegoodrange of motion in joints especially wrist, knees,Iyour back for twisting,and elbows. Describe the experience and attributes of the ideal candidate
WORKING CONDITIONS
- No allergic reactions resulting fromclose proximityto animals in the workplace.
- Working with potentially dangerous and fractious animals.
- Ability to lift and move objects and animals weighing up to 50 pounds for short distancesand to humanely restrain animals when necessary.
- Works remotely, on-site, and outdoors in various settings and weather within the community.
- Ability to travel between locations.
- Must be able toworka flexible schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
The pay range for this role is:28 - 35 USD per hour(Palo Alto)
