CNC Machinist - Technical Customer Support

Excellent career opportunity to utilize your machinist background! We are seeking a machinist with excellent tooling knowledge to assist our metal manufacturing customers. You will provide technical support to our customers and continue to learn about cutting-edge tooling technology.

Responsibilities
- Serve as a technical advisor to customers by researching solutions, recommending appropriate products, providing accurate quotes, and verifying pricing and availability.
- Assist customers in identifying the most effective and cost-efficient Tooling solutions, leveraging current promotions, suggesting complementary items, and prioritizing in-stock options.
- Support outside sales representatives by preparing detailed tooling quotes and checking stock availability.
- Collaborate with the purchasing team to recommend items for stocking or discontinuation based on customer demand and usage trends.
- Utilize and support the administration of order automation software to streamline quoting and order entry processes.
- Help resolve pricing discrepancies, product availability issues, and open orders in a timely and professional manner.
- Participate in ongoing tooling and product training sessions to stay up to date on product developments, new releases, and industry trends.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as required, contributing to the overall success of the team and company.
Requirements
- Technical Expertise - Solid understanding of machining materials, processes, and tooling - typically acquired through a 2-year technical degree or certificate in Machine Technology, or a minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience in a machine shop environment, including CNC operation, job setup, and tooling application.
- Customer Service & Communication - Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally, clearly, and tactfully with customers, vendors, and internal teams.
- Consultative Sales Ability - Skilled in identifying customer needs and providing value-added tooling recommendations, including alternative solutions that optimize performance and cost.
- Organization - Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively, with strong follow-through and attention to detail.
- Computer Proficiency - Comfortable using business software systems and data entry tools; ability to quickly learn and utilize order entry and automation platforms.
