The Pharmacy Technician (Non-Certified) provides pharmaceutical services to the patient under the supervision of a Certified Pharmacy Technician and Pharmacist to the extent dictated by state and federal laws.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Exhibits knowledge of drug nomenclature, dosage forms, storage requirements, pharmaceutical calculations, and pharmacy law as it pertains to the role and function of a non-certified pharmacy technician.
- Assists the pharmacist in drug procurement, preparation and distribution, billing functions, and other assorted tasks that contribute to the overall function of the Pharmacy Department.
- Exhibits skilled aseptic technique in handling sterile products.
- Performs pharmacy billing functions.
- Reviews and removes outdating drug products from the inventory during monthly inspections of assigned area in the pharmacy.
- Assists the pharmacist in monthly inspections of patient care areas.
- Restocks patient care areas with designated drug products as outlined in departmental procedures.
- Participates in the quality control functions of the department as provided in departmental policy.
- Documents workload activities as requested to support department managerial functions.
Education:
High school graduate or equivalent, or currently enrolled in high school working towards completion within 12 months of employment required.
Experience:
None
Licensure/Certification:
Registration with the Kentucky Board of Pharmacy prior to hire date required.
