Job Summary:
The Senior Linux Administrator is responsible for the design, implementation, maintenance, and support of Linux-based systems across enterprise environments. This role requires deep technical expertise in Linux system administration, automation, networking, and performance tuning, with a focus on reliability, scalability, and security.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Administration:
- Install, configure, and maintain Linux servers (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu).
- Perform system upgrades, patching, and kernel tuning.
- Monitor system performance and ensure high availability.
- Infrastructure & Networking:
- Manage DNS, DHCP, firewalls, load balancers, and VLAN configurations.
- Troubleshoot networking issues and optimize system connectivity.
- Support storage systems (SAN/NAS) and backup solutions (e.g., NetBackup).
- Automation & DevOps:
- Develop and maintain automation scripts using Bash, Python, or Perl.
- Use configuration management tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef).
- Support CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code practices.
- Security & Compliance:
- Implement system hardening and security best practices.
- Ensure compliance with PCI, HIPAA, or other regulatory standards.
- Manage SSL certificates, SIEM tools, and access controls.
- Project & Team Collaboration:
- Lead infrastructure projects and provide architectural guidance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including developers and network engineers.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotation and incident response.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in Linux system administration.
- Strong knowledge of Linux internals, networking, and storage.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is a plus.
- Proficiency in scripting and automation tools.
- Familiarity with monitoring tools (Nagios, Prometheus, Grafana).
Preferred Certifications:
- RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer)
- RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator)
- ITIL, CEH, or other relevant certifications
