ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

POSITION SUMMARY:
World Relief seeks a Grants Coordinator to further the mission of World Relief Durham by cultivating and expanding partnerships with current and prospective foundations and other grant-making organizations to fund World Relief Durham’s programs for refugees and other vulnerable immigrants. The Grants Coordinator will research, write, process, and complete applications for private and local grants in coordination with agency program and finance staff, as well as associated grant reporting requirements after award.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Grant Writing & Oversight
- In collaboration with supervisor and program staff, research, identify, and recognize funding opportunities that match organizational goals and priorities
- Conduct and coordinate research for background information used in proposal development
- Prepare Letters of Intent for funding requests in collaboration with supervisor, program managers, and directors
- In collaboration with program, development, finance staff, and Home Office, lead the development and submission of excellently written grants proposals; serve as the primary writer in the development of grant proposals that incorporate accurate data and appropriate stories into compelling narratives
- As needed, assign work to external contractors to generate grant proposals in their areas of expertise; be ultimately responsible for editing and finalizing proposals to meet professional standards of excellence for all outgoing private and local grant applications
- Follow World Relief Durham processes and procedures related to grant management and proposal development and once trained, make suggestions on process improvement.
- In cooperation with supervisor, develop, implement, and maintain an effective grants and award management workflow that includes setting up meetings with potential funders, tracking grants and awards through the various stages, assuring that all internal and external deadlines are met, actively collaborating with stakeholders inside and outside of World Relief Durham, and maintaining regular correspondence with prospective and current grantors
- Maintain library of grant support documents such as past grants, Board of Directors list, program budgets, letters of support, resumes, job descriptions, and negotiated indirect cost rate agreement
- In cooperation with supervisor, establish, meet and/or exceed annual goals for the number of grants to be written at various award size brackets and amounts actually awarded
- Grant Reporting
- Collaborate with program managers and directors to ensure accurate understanding of program outcomes
- Perform monthly quality control tasks to ensure accurate and timely reporting to private and local funders
- Work with program staff to deliver funding reports that include an accurate and compelling account of outcomes and impact in compliance with report requirements
- External Communication
- In collaboration with supervisor, craft communications to funders and potential funders about questions, concerns, and requests.
- Develop and maintain relationships with funders and actively research opportunities to develop new relationships
- Plan, prepare, and facilitate site visits with funders
- Other duties as assigned by the supervisor and CCE Manager
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Exceptional writing, communication, and organizational skills
- Two years of grant writing, development, or related experience
- Strong team player with a teachable attitude, willingness to learn and ask for help from supervisor and others, and demonstrate a growth mindset
- Committed to professional improvement
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word, SharePoint, Excel), database management, and grants management software
- Strong attention to details
- Strong self-starter and ability to work autonomously (as guided by supervisor) while prioritizing within deadlines
