Position Description:
The Fabrication/Plant Manager is responsible for the supervision and training of fabrication personnel, tracking and communicating key performance indicators and improving operational performance. This position is also responsible for managing production schedules, quality standards, ensuring compliance with company policies, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment, and organizing the operation to improve efficiency, eliminate mistakes, increase throughput, and
control costs. The ideal candidate will be a servant leader working to help grow and develop the team.
Requirements:
Primary Duties:
Fabrication Leadership
- Oversee daily fabrication operations to maximize efficiency, productivity, and adherence to best practices.
- Supervise, train, and mentor fabrication personnel while monitoring machine operations and team performance to ensure schedules are met.
- Maintain a safe, clean, and organized shop environment while ensuring all products meet customer specifications and quality standards.
- Prepare and deliver production reports, analyze data, and communicate timely updates to support operational decision-making.
Plant Operations
- Manage resources to meet production, safety, and quality objectives, ensuring compliance with all performance standards.
- Lead and develop supervisors and department leads, assess skill sets, and implement training programs to close gaps and strengthen team capabilities.
- Oversee all production activities, addressing issues related to quality, downtime, labor, materials, and employee morale.
- Administer company policies consistently while supporting hiring, discipline, and termination processes.
- Foster clear communication across departments, shifts, and teams through regular updates and collaborative engagement.
Process & Performance Improvement
- Design and deploy sustainable processes for material flow, resource allocation, and value creation.
- Create and deliver training materials to support process adoption and operational excellence.
- Measure process performance at both micro and macro levels, leveraging data to drive continuous improvement.
Experience & Skills:
- Minimum of 7–10 years of manufacturing experience with thorough knowledge of machining, assembly, testing, and fabrication techniques.
- Strong technical expertise in metals, welding, cutting, and fabrication processes, including the use of brake presses, lasers, water jets, and robotic welders.
- Comprehensive understanding of manufacturing design principles, tools, and processes.
- Proven leadership and servant-leadership skills with the ability to motivate, develop, and support employees while fostering open and honest communication.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written) with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, prepare accurate reports, and promote safe work practices.
- Demonstrated ability in analytical thinking, problem-solving, and critical decision-making, with strong judgment and attention to detail.
- Learning agility: ability to quickly absorb new information, apply professional literature, and implement best practices to improve production outcomes.
- Committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement in all critical activities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant manufacturing tools/software.
- Strong ability to collaborate cross-functionally with departments such as engineering, purchasing, processing, shipping, and sales.
- Knowledge of and ability to apply enterprise-level goals and objectives in quality, delivery, cost, and growth.
- Flexible to perform other duties as assigned.
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, engineering technology, industrial engineering, or any other related field is required
