Job Summary:
The Staff Accountant is responsible for managing accounting tasks, supporting month-end and year-end close processes, preparing financial reports, and ensuring compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). This role requires a high level of accuracy, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively within a fast-paced finance department.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
General Accounting
- Prepares and enters journal entries in ERP System in a timely and accurate manner.
- Prepares and analyzes account reconciliations for balance sheet accounts.
- Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
- Reconciles cash disbursement accounts, payroll, customer accounts, and other financial accounts.
- Examines and analyzes variances between standard and actual costs providing the business with data to make improvements in operations and purchasing.
- Maintains and tracks fixed asset inventory control records.
- Responds timely to requests for information and reports from company management in various departments.
- Participates in the development and implementation of accounting process change by analyzing current procedures and recommending changes. Takes initiative to continually improve financing and accounting processes and procedures eliminating waste and improving productivity.
- Assists with ad hoc projects including analysis of business operations, internal process audits, proposed accounting treatment of unusual transactions or other accounting and finance related matters.
- Maintains knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures.
- Assists with budgeting and forecasting.
- Maintains inventory of office supplies.
- Performs other related duties as assigned by management.
Accounts Payable & Receivable
- Manages and processes vendor invoices and payments in a timely and accurate manner.
- Monitors and manages outstanding invoices from customers, ensuring timely follow-up on overdue accounts.
- Reconciles AP/AR records to ensure accuracy and maintain well-organized records of all transactions.
- Coordinates with vendors and customers to resolve discrepancies and answer inquiries related to payments and invoices.
Compliance & Reporting
- Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit.

Education/Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or five to seven years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 5+ years accounting experience in a manufacturing environment that includes AP/AR.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
