POSITION SUMMARY: The Medical Assistant in Behavioral Health performs administrative and clinical duties under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Physician. Administrative duties may include scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, billing, and coding for insurance purposes. Clinical duties may include taking and recording vital signs and medical histories, preparing patients/clients for examination, drawing blood, and administering medications or treatments as directed by the Registered Nurse and/or Physician. The Behavioral Health Medical Assistant may also participate in activities such as individual and group therapy, day treatment services, crisis intervention, case management, client advocacy, supported living services, community living services, and education.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High School Diploma/GED
- 1 year of Medical Assistant experience
- BLSP (CPR) from the American Heart Association
- Valid State of Alaska Driver's License
