Townsen Memorial Hospital is looking for a PRN Anesthesia Technician to join our team at our Humble, TX location!
Position Summary
The Anesthesia Technician supports anesthesiologists, nurse anesthetists, and other members of the surgical team by preparing, maintaining, and troubleshooting anesthesia equipment and supplies. This role ensures the safe and efficient operation of anesthesia services in surgical, procedural, and critical care environments.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, set up, and test anesthesia machines, monitors, and related equipment prior to procedures.
Ensure all anesthesia supplies, drugs, and equipment are available, functional, and sterile as required.
Assist anesthesia providers during procedures by anticipating equipment and supply needs.
Monitor anesthesia equipment throughout surgeries to ensure proper function and patient safety.
Perform routine cleaning, calibration, and preventive maintenance of anesthesia machines and devices.
Restock supplies and maintain inventory levels in anesthesia work areas.
Respond promptly to equipment malfunctions or emergencies.
Maintain accurate records of equipment use, inspections, and service reports.
Comply with infection control, safety, and hospital policies and procedures.
Provide technical support for difficult intubations, central line placements, and regional anesthesia procedures when required.
Assist in training new staff or students on anesthesia equipment and protocols.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent (Associate's degree in healthcare or related field preferred).
Certification as an Anesthesia Technician/Technologist (e.g., ASATT certification) preferred
Prior experience in anesthesia services, operating room, or critical care setting strongly preferred.
Knowledge of anesthesia equipment, sterile techniques, and medical terminology.
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work effectively in high-pressure environments.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Working Conditions
Fast-paced surgical and procedural environment.
Requires standing for long periods, frequent lifting of equipment, and exposure to bodily fluids.
May include rotating shifts, weekends, holidays as needed
