Position Summary:
- Ladybird Grove & Mess Hall is seeking a friendly and organized Host to join our restaurant team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere for our guests and ensuring they have a positive dining experience from the moment they arrive.
Key Responsibilities:
- Welcome guests to the restaurant with a friendly demeanor.
- Provide accurate wait times and monitor waiting lists to ensure efficient guest flow.
- Manage reservations and coordinate with wait staff about available seating options.
- Escort customers to their assigned dining or bar areas and provide them with menus.
- Greet customers upon their departure, thanking them for their visit.
- Assist guests who require extra attention, such as children or elderly patrons.
- Answer incoming calls and address customers' queries regarding reservations or menu items.
- Maintain a clean and organized reception area to create a pleasant first impression.
- Assist wait staff as needed to enhance overall service delivery.
Qualifications/Skills:
- Previous work experience as a Host is preferred.
- Strong understanding of restaurant etiquette and health and safety regulations.
- Experience managing reservations effectively.
- Excellent customer service skills with a focus on guest satisfaction.
- Exceptional communication skills, both in-person and on the phone.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to monitor the entire dining and bar area.
- Availability to work shifts, including evenings and weekends.
- Good physical condition to walk and stand for extended periods during a shift.
- High school diploma is required; hospitality certification is a plus.
Essential Physical Functions:
- Must have the ability/stamina to work a minimum of 20 hours a week.
- Ability to stand/walk for 8-10 hours per day.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
- Will frequently stand, walk, reach, feel, bend, stoop, carry, finely manipulate and key in data.
- Must be able to work in both warm and cool environments, indoors and outdoors.
- Must be able to tolerate higher levels of noise from music and customer traffic.
- Must be able to tolerate potential allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, and soy.
- Report to work in a complete required uniform.
- Maintain a well-manicured appearance and persona that reflects the image of the restaurant.
- Meet personal schedule requirements punctually.
- Be courteous, friendly and pleasant.
