About This Opportunity
Walker Consultants has an opportunity for a structural restoration and forensics engineer with 2 to 5 years of experience in the Los Angeles office. This individual will work on a variety of assignments, which may include participating in field investigations of existing buildings and parking structures, developing repair calculations, preparing design drawings and specifications, analyzing existing structures, conducting forensic investigations, and writing reports.

Pay range: $80,000-$95,000 based on qualifications

Responsibilities
- Take an active role in the preparation of project documents, including the development of repair drawings, calculation sheets, and assessment reports.
- Manage small-sized projects and assist in managing larger-sized projects.
- Perform on-site assessment and investigations, including surveying and documenting observations, photographing, sketching, and non-destructive testing and measurements.
- Organize and post-process field data to facilitate analysis and problem solving.
- Perform required engineering calculations, structural analysis, and repair/retrofit design.
- Assist clients in preparation of bid package.
- Perform construction administration services during construction.
- Research the historical background of diverse structures and building materials, technical specifications, and building code issues.
- Complete technical and investigative reports to support forensic findings and prepare presentations.
- Interface with clients and attend meetings.
- Assist in the preparation of project proposals.
- May require traveling to jobsites, including out-of-state locations.
Qualifications and Competencies
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in civil/structural engineering.
- Engineer-in-Training required; able to obtain California PE.
- 2–5 years of experience in structural design, repair/retrofit design, and structural failure investigation.
- Strong background in using commercially available structural engineering and analysis software.
- Excellent organization and management skills.
- Must have a background in structural dynamics or related fields.
- Fluent in spoken and written English. Strong technical writing skills.
- Experience with post-tensioned structures is a plus.
- Experience in building envelope assessments (moisture infiltration, façade, roofing) is a plus.
