The Operations Training Lead works under the direction of the Operations Coordinator II to provide both field training and classroom training for operations personnel. In this role, the Operations Training Lead will be responsible for spending a significant amount of their time on the floor observing and coaching employees in EHS policies and procedures. This will include providing on-the-job training for new hires. The Lead will also direct classroom training in Spanish as required and provide support for training in English as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Follows all environmental, health and safety protocols
- Train and mentor all new hires as well as existing staff on job requirements, systems, safety, quality, policies, procedures, and guidelines of operations
- Works with production management and supervisors to monitor the work of newly trained technicians and coordinate retraining
- Collaborate with operations to identify training needs and areas for improvement.
- Acts as a change agent by encouraging positive attitudes and behaviors towards training, safety, and work duties
- Provides feedback to management on staff performance including concerns and appropriate recognition
- Performs translation for safety meetings, training material, EHS documents & quality documents from English into Spanish
- Provides new hire orientation training
- Supports annual EHS & Quality refresher training
- Ensure completion of the Operations New Hire Checklists
- Assists with training of all site standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and other applicable procedures
- Enters training into the site Learning Management System (LMS)
- Certify Forklift Operators
- Certify and train DOT Hazmat employees
- Performs other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in education, human factors, linguistics, cognitive science, communication, anthropology or a related field required
- 1-2 years of education/training experience
- Basic safety experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English & Spanish
- Ability to train people from various backgrounds and learning styles
- Excellent Microsoft office applications (specifically Microsoft excel)
- Ability to follow Good Manufacturing Practices including the proper wearing of clean protective clothing, following personal hygiene standards, and adherence to food/drink/tobacco restrictions
Environmental and/or Physical Requirements
- Work is generally performed within an office environment, with standard office equipment available
- Frequent plant field visits that require protective clothing & personal devices:
- Safety shoes, hard hat, safety glasses, earplugs, mask, goggles, insulated gloves, safety vest, harness, hair net, slicker suit, respiratory protection
