JOB SUMMARY AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Performs hyperbaric oxygen therapy on approved patients. Apply technical and operational knowledge to support the operation, maintenance and safety of a multi-place hyperbaric (HBO) chamber and other hyperbaric support systems, participating in patient care and assisting with all aspects of the HBO/Wound Care Center.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:Graduation from armed services or Civilian Diving School.Qualified by education, training or experience to work with the adolescent, adult, and/or geriatric patient as specialty assignment dictates.
EXPERIENCE: Medical Care Technician with hospital experience preferred. Must successfully complete in-house technician program.Demonstrates ability to operate chamber with 12 patients and staff during a two-hour therapy and apply all safety precautions and operational emergency procedures.Effective verbal and written communication skills required. Demonstrates a willingness and ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Must posses organizational and computer skills.
LICENSE OR CERTIFICATION:Emergency Medical Technician-IV required or Diver Medical Technician certification or Certification as Hyperbaric Technician preferred.Current CPR certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Subject to hyperbaric chamber diving hazards.Lifting, positioning and transferring patients, supplies and equipment.Prolonged standing and walking;Heavy Work - exerting up to 150 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 75 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 30 pounds of force constantly to move objects, (May be later defined as "with assistance" or "without assistance.")
