Join our Great Parks team as a part-time Riding Instructor at the Winton Woods Farm & Equestrian Center. At Great Parks, our team members work together to preserve and protect natural resources and to provide outdoor recreation and education in order to enhance the quality of life for present and future generations.
This part-time position works various shifts including evenings, weekends, and holidays. This position gives horseback riding lessons and instruction to Equestrian Center visitors, hosts horseback riding summer camps, assists in hosting onsite competitions, greets and serves guests, handles guest inquiries, drives Farm vehicles. Standard practice allows employee to proceed alone on regular duties with questionable situations referred to supervisor.
Responsibilities:
- Performs job duties in accordance with Great Parks’ policies, procedures, and performance expectations.
- Maintains confidentiality of confidential and sensitive information.
- Works assigned schedule, exhibits regular and punctual attendance and works outside of normal schedule as required.
- Greets and serves guests to ensure satisfaction. Handles guest inquires.
- Teaches horseback riding lessons and instruction to Equestrian Center visitors.
- Feeds, waters, brushes, and performs other tasks to assist in care of horses
- Maintains and repairs tack.
- Assists riders on and off horse. Ensures public safety and proper treatment of the horses.
- Maintains clean and sanitary conditions.
- Opens facilities and prepares for daily business. Closes and secures facilities at end of business day.
Qualifications
Any combination of education, training, course work and experience may qualify the applicant to demonstrate required knowledge, skills, and abilities. An example of an acceptable qualification is:
- At least 18 years old and completion of high school education, with course work/experience in equestrian management and demonstrable skill in horseback riding.
- Great customer service experience preferred
- Has ability to demonstrate written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in equestrian management and demonstrable skill in horseback riding
- Ability to document identity and employment eligibility within three (3) days of original appointment as a condition of employment in compliance with Immigration Reform and Control Act requirements.
LICENSE OF CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- State Motor Vehicle Operator’s License that meets GPHC current carrier guidelines.
