We are looking for high-energy, creative, and dedicated Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) to join our vibrant Day Program team. Our Day Program offers a wide range of engaging activities and enriching experiences that promote personal growth, skill development, and community integration.
Pay Rate: $19.68 per hour, in compliance with Maryland's Equal Pay for Equal Work law.
Work week is Monday - Friday, 30 hours per week, that vary between 8 AM - 5 PM.
As a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in our Day Program, you will support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities in their individual pursuit of a fulfilling life. DSPs provide person-centered support and training in job readiness skills, job exploration, social skills, health and wellness, self-care, self-advocacy, math, reading, safety, and community access skills. As an example, DSPs assist our individuals with:
- Maximizing independence by teaching various life, vocational, social, and recreational skills.
- Engaging individuals in meaningful activities throughout the day.
- Providing personal assistance as necessary, including assistance with personal hygiene, lifting, and transferring.
- Assisting with developing knowledge and access of community resources.
- Transportation to various locations within the community.
- Support with the job exploration/job development process.

Requirements:
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age at the time of application.
- Must possess a high school diploma or GED.
- Must have a valid U.S. driver's license with a minimum of two (2) years of driving experience not including time spent on a permit.
- Must have a clean drug screen, criminal record and a clean/safe driving record. (The Arc provides programs, services, and direct care to vulnerable adults).
- Basic computer and keyboarding skills.
- The ability to complete CPR, First Aid, Med Tech Certification and other trainings mandated by the Developmental Disabilities Administration and The Arc.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Ability to lift/manipulate at least 50 pounds frequently with ability to lift, carry and/or exert force in excess of 100 pounds of force occasionally.
- Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing and frequent bending, stooping, reaching, pulling, and pushing required: Including lifting a wheelchair and repositioning an individual.
- Ability to transfer individual from a chair to vehicle, bed to chair. Ability to position individual on a sling or Hoyer lift. Ability to physically secure individual in a wheelchair to the van with tie-downs.
