DEFINITION/PRIMARY FUNCTION
-
The LPN Community Wellness (Infection Control) nurse is responsible for the care of clients with/or concerned about having sexually transmitted infections (STI), HIV, and/or Hepatitis C. The LPN Community Wellness (Infection Control) nurse provides care through the Massachusetts Department of Public Health(MDPH) funded programs at BMC.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS (Minimum qualifications are required unless stated otherwise.)

Experience:
-
One-year experience in clinical nursing in acute care .

One year in an infection control capacity or working with clients with STIs, HIV, Hepatitis C preferred.

Education and Training:
-
Licensed Practical Nurse from an accredited program.

License, Certification & Registration:
-
LPN - Licensed Practical Nurses

Other Requirements:
-
Proven ability to exercise independent judgment and initiative.
-
Excellent interpersonal skills with a variety of people including patients, families, employees, physicians, and agencies required.

Ability to work comfortably with people with alternative lifestyles.
-
Current knowledge of nursing and medical practices and procedures required. Knowledge of federal, state, and local laws, regulations, and guidelines related to STIs, HIV, and Hepatitis C.

Excellent interpersonal and consultation skills required.

Working knowledge of epidemiology, infectious diseases, and asepsis preferred.

Computer experience required.

Ability to track, trend & analyze data to create action plans for performance improvement.

Ability to speak the English language in an understandable manner.
-
Must be able to attend meetings and educational offerings as mandated by MDPH.

Must have excellent phlebotomy skills.

Must be knowledgeable of and in agreement with harm reduction philosophy.
