JOB SUMMARY/PURPOSE

Responsible for accessioning and abstracting pertinent data on cases diagnosed with and/or treated for a reportable neoplasm at any facility participating in the Samaritan Regional Cancer Registry.

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION
-
The Samaritan Regional Tumor Registry (SRTR) gathers information from all five of Samaritan Health Services’ hospitals to help the Oregon State Cancer Registry (OSCaR) track the incidence, treatment and outcomes for cancer and non-cancer tumors.

EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION/QUALIFICATIONS
-
One (1) of the following required:
-
Successful completion of an NCRA-Accredited Associate's Degree.

Successful completion of an NCRA-Accredited Formal Education Certificate program and an Associate's degree or equivalent (60 college-level credits).
-
Successful completion of an Associate's degree or equivalent (60 college-level credits). Two (2) semesters in Human Anatomy and Human Physiology must be included or in addition to specific coursework.

One (1) year experience in a healthcare setting required.

Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) required within three (3) years of hire.

Experience and/or training with computerized records and record keeping required.
