GENERAL SUMMARY
-
The Clinical Data Analyst oversees the effective utilization of statistical tools and models to prepare accurate and timely reports for the department. Coordinates the development, configuration, maintenance and usage of patient safety, quality data systems and registry data. Reports to department leadership.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Creates reports using appropriate SQL tools to support quality improvement, regulatory and strategic initiatives.

Manages timely registry reporting.

Manages multiple data sources in order to access information required for performance improvements, patient safety and regulatory compliance.

Coordinates data acquisition, provides analysis, and graphic display of quality improvement and patient safety data.

Works with the senior data analyst to model and create adverse event tools.

Utilizes strong interpersonal and presentation skills to deliver analysis findings and reports.

Acts as a resource to Quality Improvement and Safety department staff and administration in analyzing and interpreting information to identify trends and the impact of changes in the health care environment.

Evaluates internal and external reporting requirements related to quality and safety data.
-
Makes recommendations for maximizing available data to achieve compliance.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

Required Education and Experience
-
Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. (i.e., Statistics, Public Health, Science, Information Systems, or Data Science)

At least 3-5 years of related Information Services experience required.

Experience in design, collection, analysis, interpretation and presentation of quantitative information required (preferably in health care information).

Business Objects (i.e., PowerInsight or Clarity) report writing experience is required.
-
Experience in Cerner/Oracle required.

Preferred Education and Experience

Experience in healthcare preferred.
-
Experience with healthcare financial data a plus.
-
Experience with Smartsheet a plus.
-
Experience in Epic a plus.
-
Experience with Python or other artificial intelligence platforms a plus.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
-
Demonstrates ability in database development, programming and data analysis skills.
-
Demonstrates ability to use statistical modeling to support decision making as a means to improve quality, impact costs or determine the financial impact of a proposal.

Expert knowledge of SQL, SAS, Microsoft Access and Excel, PowerBI and other analytics tools.

Ability to translate detailed and complex data into understandable conclusions and offer valuable solutions.
-
Must have demonstrated organizational and management skills, the ability to manage a large volume of work, tight deadlines, and frequently shifting priorities.

Requires thorough knowledge and understanding of automated data systems.

Requires interpersonal and leadership skills to successfully interact with employees, management, physicians and executives at all levels.

Must have strong written and verbal communication skills for presentations to management, physicians and executives.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Prefer knowledge of ICD-9, ICD-10 and CPT coding.
