Summary of the Position
The Service Technician position at Best Equipment is responsible for performing a variety of repair and maintenance tasks on municipal and contractor environmental equipment. This position is critical to ensuring that all equipment functions safely, efficiently, and effectively for our clients. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills, combined with an ability to work independently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform repair and maintenance tasks on public works and municipal equipment, including troubleshooting electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Welding and Fabrication: Perform precise, high-quality welding and fabrication tasks to ensure the integrity, functionality, and longevity of equipment.
- Diagnose and resolve issues in 12-volt electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and other mechanical components.
- Read and interpret complex wiring schematics and electrical diagrams to facilitate efficient troubleshooting and repair.
- Ensure that all work is performed to meet safety and operational standards, including adhering to shop safety guidelines and participating in monthly safety meetings.
Qualifications
- Minimum of five years" experience in welding and fabrication, with a proven ability to perform high-quality, structural welding on heavy equipment.
- Minimum of five years' experience in troubleshooting and repair of 12-volt electrical systems.
- Proficiency in hydraulic systems, including electric-over-hydraulic and air-over-hydraulic systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical theory and complex wiring schematics.
- Basic knowledge of pneumatic systems and mechanical principles.
- High mechanical aptitude with the ability to work independently and solve problems effectively.
- Experience working with heavy equipment welding, fabrication, and repair is highly valued.
- Class 7/8 chassis experience is a plus.
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to high-quality work.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
To be successful in this role, you may need to lift up to 50 pounds, stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and climb ladders or equipment. Vision and hearing must be sufficient to identify equipment issues and ensure safety. The position involves exposure to loud noise, odors, dust, heat, cold, and vibration. You may have to tolerate temperature fluctuations and work in various weather conditions.
