About the Role
The Assistant Construction Superintendent supports the Superintendent and project management team in day-to-day field operations across active construction sites. This is an entry- to mid-level field leadership role with room for advancement. The role involves assisting with contractor coordination, safety oversight, quality control, and maintaining clean, organized jobsites. This person will play a key part in ensuring our construction projects stay on schedule and meet Thomas Park’s high standards of excellence.
Job-Type: Full-time, non-exempt
Subcontractor & Site Coordination
• Support the Superintendent in managing daily on-site activities.
• Assist with coordinating subcontractors to ensure adherence to project plans and timelines.
• Help implement site logistics plans and maintain an organized, clean jobsite.
• Participate in walkthroughs and inspections with internal teams and subcontractors.
Project Documentation & Communication
• Assist with the maintenance of daily field reports, safety logs, and progress photos.
• Support the Superintendent in preparing updates and communicating site activity to the broader construction team.
• Notify project managers of potential RFIs and assist in identifying solutions.
Schedule Support
• Aid in monitoring short-term look-ahead schedules.
• Track key milestones and report any anticipated delays or roadblocks.
• Help ensure subcontractor teams are aligned with upcoming schedule expectations.
Safety & Quality
• Promote and enforce safety practices in accordance with company and OSHA standards.
• Assist in conducting safety walks, site orientations, and toolbox talks.
• Support quality control checks and help identify potential risks or issues early.
Pre-Construction & Close-Out
• Attend pre-bid site walks when needed.
• Assist with punch list coordination and final inspections.
About You
• 1–3 years of field construction experience preferred (internships, labor, or assistant roles).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to take initiative, follow direction, and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
• Basic understanding of commercial construction processes and safety protocols.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office; experience with Bluebeam or Procore is a plus.
• Willingness to travel between multiple job sites across DC/MD/VA.
