Position Summary
The Surgical Supply & Inventory Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and managing the purchasing and inventory of surgical products, implants, and minor medical equipment for our surgical services departments. This role ensures optimum inventory levels with minimal investment while maintaining compliance with all regulatory standards for tissue and medical device management.
Key Responsibilities

Research, evaluate, and recommend surgical products and supply options to physicians and clinicians.

Collaborate with Purchasing and vendors to secure cost-effective, timely delivery of products.

Maintain accurate inventory, oversee storage, labeling, and timely system updates.

Coordinate product trials, conversions, and exchanges with vendors and clinical teams.

Audit surgical schedules to identify and order special products as needed.

Resolve delivery or order discrepancies, including backorders and incorrect shipments.

Perform regular cycle counts, annual physical inventories, and implant reconciliations.

Identify slow-moving or obsolete products and manage recalls.

Partner with Surgery Informatics to keep Surgeon Preference Cards and product lists current.

Maintain accurate implant/explant tracking documentation.

Provide training and support to staff on inventory systems and processes.
Requirements
-
Bachelor’s degree in business or related field OR minimum of 3 years of relevant experience.

Minimum of 4 years’ experience in materials management, inventory control, or healthcare environment.

Minimum of 3 years’ demonstrated leadership experience.

Experience using automated materials management and/or healthcare inventory systems.

Medical terminology knowledge strongly preferred (or willingness to complete within first year).

Knowledge of surgical medical supplies, products, and equipment preferred.
Skills & Abilities

Strong understanding of inventory control, supply chain processes, and vendor relations.

Excellent analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving skills.

Proficiency with MS Excel; experience with healthcare ERP systems and tissue/implant tracking databases.

Effective communicator with strong presentation and relationship-building skills.

Organized, detail-oriented, and able to adapt to changing priorities.

Strong leadership and training abilities.
Working Conditions

Office and hospital environment with exposure to supply and storage areas.

May be exposed to varying temperatures, biohazards, and hospital equipment.

Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs. and perform moderate physical activity.
