Under the direction of the Laboratory Manager, the Phlebotomy Education Supervisor will provide a detailed and in-depth training curriculum for laboratory affiliation programs, Laboratory phlebotomy, and Nursing phlebotomy. Will create and update educational materials and training modules to ensure they are current and aligned with best practices.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT(S):
High School Graduate, some College preferred
Extensive experience as a phlebotomist, preferably with supervisory or training experience.
Some knowledge of LIS preferred
Certification: NHA Phlebotomy preferred
Strong knowledge of phlebotomy procedures, venipuncture techniques, and safety protocols.
Minimum of 7years’ experience in phlebotomy
NY State Driver’s License
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
Coordinates all Laboratory Education Affiliation Programs. This includes Human Resources Affiliation Agreements, Human Resources student requirements (Identification badges, vaccination records, HIPPA training). Also coordinate with individual laboratory supervisors for assigned training dates.
Facilitate or delegate Didactic Phlebotomy training course for Lab phlebotomy staff, Patient and Unit Care Technicians, and Nursing staff (including agency nurses.)
Over site of Phlebotomy training and practical experience.
Maintains records of staff that have successfully completed Ellis’ Laboratory Certified Basic Phlebotomy training.
Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, guidelines, and standards related to phlebotomy practices and safety.
Conduct regular performance evaluations of phlebotomy staff, providing constructive feedback and identifying area for improvement.
Oversees and maintains schedules for all remote patient service centers.
Monitor API for all off-site phlebotomy employees.
Acts as liaison between phlebotomy and nursing units to support and coordinate educational requirements.
Support Phlebotomy Supervisor to ensure phlebotomy coverage for all Ellis Medicine sites.
Supervise and guide phlebotomy staff, ensuring they have the necessary resources and support to perform their duties effectively.
Assists in training Laboratory staff for Specimen Processing as well as Laboratory Information Systems.
Is flexible with schedule to accommodate training on multiple shifts at various locations within the Ellis Organization.
Coordinate Student Internships with any Cooperative Agreements Ellis may have.
Attends 95% or better of all scheduled shifts.
Maintain effective communication with all phlebotomy staff, other healthcare professionals and management.
Must be clear of any disciplinary infractions in the last 12 months or must have a performance evaluation.
Adheres to all relevant health and safety standards ensuring an optimal training environment.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The position can be in or out of doors under normal working conditions. Should be able to push/pull, lift/move 35 lb., be able to perform moderately difficult manual manipulations such as using a keyboard, writing, and filing for extended periods of time, must be able to perform tasks which require hand-eye coordination such as data entry, typing and using photo copiers. Mobility requirements may include the ability to be stationary at a workstation for a prolonged period time in addition to being able to squat or be mobile for a reasonable length of time and distance. Communication requirements include the ability to comprehend the spoken English language in addition to being able to communicate and read the English language

Salary Range: $ 24.75-36.53 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
