Position Summary
As a Nursing Professional Development Educator, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating orientation, in-service education, and continuing education programs for nursing staff. In this role, you will ensure staff are competent and prepared to deliver high-quality patient care while supporting best practices and standards in nursing. You will also serve as a resource and advocate for staff professional development and continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities

Assess staff educational needs and analyze practice gaps to design relevant competency-based programs.

Develop, coordinate, and deliver engaging orientation and training sessions for new and current staff.

Create, update, and evaluate lesson plans, instructional materials, and continuing education content.

Provide individual and group instruction, coaching, and feedback to nursing staff.

Serve as a resource to nursing teams, leaders, and interdisciplinary partners to promote best practices.

Support regulatory readiness through ongoing education and competency validation.

Facilitate updates to policies, procedures, and educational materials to align with current standards.

Participate in community outreach and provide patient education as appropriate.

Support professional nursing practice through the integration of evidence-based practice, scholarship, and quality initiatives.

Maintain accurate records of training programs, attendance, and compliance.

Assist in developing and maintaining a culture of lifelong learning.
Requirements
-
Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required; Master’s degree in Nursing or Advanced Practice Nursing preferred.

Current RN license in the state of Indiana.

Minimum of two years of nursing experience required.

Current CPR Instructor certification, or must obtain after hire.

Must become a Nurse Planner through the American Nurses Credentialing Center within one year of hire.

In-depth knowledge of adult learning principles and training program development.

Proven ability to assess training needs and develop competency-based educational content.

Strong teaching and presentation skills with the ability to engage diverse learning styles.

Demonstrates strong leadership, collaboration, and advocacy skills.

Strong analytical and critical thinking abilities.

Passion for mentoring, coaching, and developing others.

Familiarity with healthcare regulations and nursing standards of practice.
Working Conditions & Physical Demands

Works in a dynamic patient care environment with frequent interactions and shifting priorities.

May be exposed to biohazards.

Requires physical stamina and ability to stand and walk for extended periods, assist with patient positioning/lifting (up to 35 lbs. unassisted), and perform CPR if needed.
