Job Summary:
Westchester Medical Center is seeking a board-certified or board-eligible psychiatrist with expertise in Consultation-Liaison (C-L) Psychiatry to join our academic faculty as an Attending Psychiatrist. This individual will provide inpatient psychiatric consultation services to medically ill patients and collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams in a general hospital setting. The position also includes opportunities for teaching, supervision, and scholarly work. The successful candidate will provide inpatient psychiatric consultations and follow up visits to medical/surgical inpatients which include Burn, Geriatrics, High Risk OB/GYN, Transplant, Trauma and Substance Abuse patients. Responsibilities include evaluating and treating patients that have behavioral complications from medical illness, complications from medications, psychiatric disorders that are comorbid with medical conditions and medical complications of different psychiatric disorders. Teaching opportunities include working with medical students, neurology and psychiatry residents and fellows.
Responsibilities:
- Clinical Duties
- Provide psychiatric consultation and treatment to medically hospitalized patients at Westchester Medical Center
- Manage acute psychiatric symptoms in medically complex patients across units such as internal medicine, including the Burn Unit and Transplant Service, surgery, including the trauma service, multiple ICUs, and OB-GYN.
- Collaborate closely with medical and surgical teams to ensure integrated patient care.
- Provide brief interventions, medication management, and risk assessments.
- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and case discussions.
- Academic and Teaching Duties

- Administrative and Leadership
- Provide psychiatric consultation and treatment to medically hospitalized patients at Westchester Medical Center
- Manage acute psychiatric symptoms in medically complex patients across units such as internal medicine, including the Burn Unit and Transplant Service, surgery, including the trauma service, multiple ICUs, and OB-GYN.
- Collaborate closely with medical and surgical teams to ensure integrated patient care.

- Participate in interdisciplinary rounds and case discussions.
Qualifications / Requirements:
- M.D. or D.O. with completion of an accredited psychiatry residency.
- Fellowship training in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry (preferred).
- Board eligible or board certified in Psychiatry; subspecialty certification in C-L Psychiatry (preferred).
- Licensed or eligible for medical licensure in New York
- Demonstrated commitment to teaching and scholarly activity.
- Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
- Prior academic faculty experience (preferred)
- Experience with integrated behavioral health models (preferred)
- Track record of scholarly productivity or quality improvement work (preferred)
