The Impact of a Project Accountant
As a Project Accountant, you’ll be a trusted financial partner to our project teams- helping track the pulse of each project’s financial health from kickoff through closeout. This role combines precision, communication, and collaboration to ensure projects are not only built well- but accounted for just as well.
We’d Count on You To:
- Partner with Project Managers to ensure accurate project cost tracking and forecasting
- Prepare and submit monthly owner billings, sworn statements, and lien waivers
- Manage project accounts receivable and subcontractor payables, ensuring compliance and timely payments
- Review contracts and change orders to capture all revenue and cost activity
- Maintain accurate financial documentation and assist with audits or compliance needs
- Support project start-up: set up jobs in accounting systems and ensure all project financial records are in order
- Monitor project cash flow and provide regular reports to leadership
- Lead or assist with close-out activities, including final invoicing and reconciling subcontractor balances
- Act as a primary point of contact for trade partners on payment or compliance questions
- Collaborate with the Accounting team on internal initiatives, reporting, and process improvement
What Experience You’ll Bring:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is preferred
- 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in construction or project-based industries
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple deadlines
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate with internal teams and external partners
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel; familiarity with ERP/accounting systems (Viewpoint Vista preferred)
- A service-oriented mindset- you thrive when supporting others and solving problems
- Ability to interpret and summarize financial data clearly and concisely
