Job Summary
The Business Development Representative will support the Sales Team in establishing and maintaining contact between Orion180 Insurance and the agency force for their assigned territory. This role focuses on promoting the Orion180 products, assisting in the growth of agents contracted, and training agencies on products and services. The individual will be responsible for a high volume of agency prospecting, managing inbound agent inquiries and administering the sales system.
Role and Responsibilities
To perform the job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and should demonstrate the following competencies to consistently perform the essential functions of this position. All employees are expected to adhere to and be knowledgeable of Orion180 operations standards, established security/safety rules and requirements for attendance. The requirements listed below are representative of the fundamental knowledge, skill, and/or ability required to perform the job successfully:
- Prospect and Qualify New Agency Partners: Identify and engage with new independent insurance agencies that could benefit from partnering with our company. Leverage a combination of phone outreach, email communication, and social media to generate leads.
- Support Producers: Focus on nurturing and building relationships with independent agencies in the territory, offering support, product information, and incentives to encourage them to increase business volume.
- Develop and Execute Outreach Campaigns: Create and execute outreach campaigns to attract new agency partners, including targeted cold calls, follow-up emails, and strategic outreach to re-engage dormant accounts.
- Lead Generation: Generate a pipeline of new opportunities by identifying agencies that align with our company's products and services. Work closely with the Territory Sales Manager to develop strategies to convert leads into long-term partnerships.
- Relationship Building: Establish strong, positive relationships with independent agencies, ensuring they understand the benefits of partnering with us. Serve as a resource for agents seeking answers about our products, processes, and tools.
- Sales Support and Coordination: Collaborate with Territory Managers and other sales representatives to ensure that agency needs are met. Assist in coordinating meetings and presentations with potential agency partners.
- CRM Management: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all activities in our CRM system, including tracking prospect interactions, follow-ups, and sales pipeline progress.
- Market and Competitor Research: Stay informed about industry trends, competitor activity, and market conditions. Provide feedback to the sales team on market dynamics, pricing, and potential growth opportunities.
- Reporting and Metrics: Regularly report on key performance indicators (KPIs), including lead generation, meetings scheduled, and opportunities converted. Assist in tracking progress toward sales goals and targets.
- Team Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams, including marketing and operations, to ensure the delivery of materials, support, and strategic resources that facilitate successful business development.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
- P&C or Mortgage Industry Sales experience preferred but not required
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Ability to obtain 440 or 220 P&C within 90 days

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with potential agency partners.
- Strong phone presence and ability to cold call, follow-up, and close initial engagements.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to handle administrative tasks while maintaining productivity.
- Proficient in using CRM software (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Physical Demands
While performing general office duties for this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand and/or walk around (including the use of stairs). Other demands include the ability to openly communicate with others by talking, listening, and reading, being able to lift light objects (<25lbs), and using standard office equipment such as computers, printers, and phones. In addition, there is an occasional need to bend, twist or squat down to open/close cabinets, and reach for files or other standard office-type objects.

The office environment is a fast paced and collaborative. An employee must be willing to work their regularly assigned work schedule, and in times of need, be able to work an extended schedule depending on company or departmental needs, project requirements, or customer demands.
