POSITION SUMMARY

You’ll be instrumental in setting the tone for unit culture—leading day-to-day operations while shaping the long-term vision for care delivery, staff development, and patient outcomes. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Provide visionary leadership and operational oversight for a specialized patient care unit, aligning nursing practice with Craig Hospital’s mission, values, and quality standards.
- Foster a culture of excellence, innovation, and continuous learning through mentorship, coaching, and evidence-based decision-making.
- Direct and support a high-performing nursing team, ensuring optimal staffing, equitable assignments, and a positive work environment that promotes autonomy and accountability.
- Build strong partnerships with physicians and interdisciplinary professionals to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care—especially in complex SCI and TBI rehabilitation settings.
- Promote safe, high-quality care through oversight of infection prevention, medication safety, discharge planning, and documentation audits.
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory and safety requirements while maintaining nursing standards in alignment with Magnet principles.
- Actively lead or support unit-based quality improvement initiatives, technology upgrades, and new clinical processes.
- Serve as a change agent—guiding staff through transitions with clarity, confidence, and compassion.
- Respond to and resolve patient, family, or staff concerns with professionalism and empathy, escalating through proper channels when necessary.
- Collaborate with HR and nursing leadership on recruitment, retention, training, and performance management, including annual evaluations and employee development planning.
- Deliver training and development opportunities aligned with competency goals and individual growth.
- Engage in hospital-wide initiatives, shared governance, and community representation for the Craig nursing department.
- Maintain readiness to step into direct patient care as needed to support staffing and uphold clinical excellence.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
Licensure & Certification:
- Active Colorado RN license or compact licensure
- Current BLS and ACLS certifications from the American Heart Association- Healthcare Provider certification
- Relevant specialty certification (Magnet-recognized) within 6 months of hire
Education:
- BSN from an accredited nursing program (CCNE or NLNAC required)
- Master’s degree in Nursing, Healthcare Administration, or related field preferred
Experience:
- 3–5 years of nursing experience required
- 1–2 years of nursing leadership or management experience preferred
Skills & Strengths:
- Deep understanding of nursing principles, patient safety, and neuro-rehabilitation practices
- Exceptional leadership, delegation, and team-building capabilities
- Strong critical thinking, strategic planning, and conflict resolution skills
- Adept at managing multiple priorities while maintaining clarity and focus
- Proven ability to lead performance improvement, implement policy, and mentor staff
- Excellent communication—both written and verbal—with multidisciplinary teams and leadership
- Tech-savvy with proficiency in Microsoft Office and EMR platforms
- Committed to professional development, education, and shared governance

Salary Range: $47.13/ Hour - $67.87/ Hour
