Performance Improvement Specialist-Data Reporting

Under the direct supervision of the Quality Department Leadership the Performance Improvement Specialist coordinates activities to collect, aggregate, analyze and report data to support organizational performance improvement and sustainment initiatives. The Performance Improvement Specialist works collaboratively with hospital and medical staff to ensure patient safety, patient satisfaction, and improve both clinical outcomes and systems.
This position is responsible for the coordination and data collection for mandatory measures and performance improvement activities, aggregating data, reporting, and analyzing quality data to support the Quality Department and organization leadership. The Performance Improvement Specialist is responsible for working with other leadership within the Quality Department to evaluate, design, implement, and sustain performance improvement and service excellence strategies for the organization.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
- Degree in nursing, business or health related field is preferred, equivalent experience considered.
- Current experience in hospital-based performance improvement and knowledge of regulatory requirements (i.e., The Joint Commission, DOH, IPRO, CMS) is preferred.
- Proficiency in desktop computer and statistical applications (Excel) required.
- Knowledge of data programming languages (such as SQL) is beneficial.
- Ability to develop data dashboards, charts, and visual aids to support decision-making across departments required.
- Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills, demonstrated leadership and facilitation skills are essential for this role.
RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION:
Quality
- Participates in organizational improvement activities across the following domains:
- Falls / HAPI / Sepsis reporting
- Board Quality Reporting
- RCA / Risk Management Support
- Other departmental data needs
- Participates with organizational readiness and compliance with external agencies including TJC, CMS and DOH.
- Works within the Quality Department and with key stakeholders, to develop plans to continually improve performance against core measures, regulatory standards, and strategic initiatives.
- Collaborates with organizational leadership to develop actionable plans of correction for untoward or near-miss events
Patient Experience
- Develops strategies that will allow Ellis Medicine to continually improve the patient and family experience.
- Collaborates with the Quality Department Leadership to enhance patient satisfaction results.
- Assists department leaders in identifying and addressing operational issues which impact patient satisfaction.
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of regional and national benchmarks, survey tools and customer service initiatives.
Project Management
- Facilitates performance improvement through Lean methodologies; identifying, designing and evaluating performance improvement initiatives.
- Works directly with key stakeholders to operationalize plans into actions.
- Continuously evaluates initiatives and actively leads solutions
- Collaborates with leaders to develop and reinforce metrics for improvement opportunities
- Supports Ellis Strong initiatives.
- Manages project timelines.
Leadership
- Works directly with the Quality Leadership Team to further develop leadership skills in service excellence, change management, Quality Assurance, Organizational Performance, and Lean methodologies.

Salary Range: $24.75-36.53 /hour Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
