About The Role:
The Drive-by-Wire system is a critical interface between our world-leading autonomous system and the vehicles which need those capabilities, laying the foundation for advanced robotic development. At Forterra, we continually push the boundaries of innovation to provide our customers with best-in-class autonomous solutions. In this role, you will directly influence our entire customer base, helping Forterra accelerate solution delivery and shape the future of autonomous system adoption.
What You"ll Do:
- Development and ownership of Drive-by-Wire system across all vehicle platforms, from requirements to implementation.
- Develop concept architectures (Hardware) and tradeoff analysis to best implement a Drive-by-Wire system for a given vehicle platform
- Lead the development of HW subsystem specifications and interface documents
- Support in the further development of modularization and scalability of system architectures within Forterra's product portfolio
- Guide the implementation of requirements from system safety and cybersecurity for the system
- Lead the development of a strong supply chain for the implementation of Drive-by-Wire Systems
What We"re Looking For:
- B.S Degree or higher in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, automotive engineering or
- similar relevant discipline.
- Basic knowledge of systems engineering methods and tools, such as requirements management in
- JAMA, Magic Draw, DOORS , Functional Architecture Development, State Machine Diagrams, etc.
- Knowledge of ISO 26262 and IEC 61508 desirable
- Structured, independent way of working and strong teamwork skills
- Ability to solicit information, requirements, and expertise from a wide range of stakeholders and
- suppliers
- Able to travel up to 30% of the time
What We Need:
- 7+ years of Experience in the development of electro-mechanical systems, preferably in the field of
- Active Driver Assistance Systems and/or Drive by Wire Systems in automotive, commercial or military vehicles
- 3+ years of Experience with common standard protocols of the automotive industry, e.g. CAN/CANFD bus, XCP, Automotive Ethernet and UDS
What We Love to See:
- 10+ years of Experience in the development of Drive-by-Wire Systems in the passenger and/or commercial vehicle industry including brake and/or steering actuation.
- Basic Knowledge of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
- Experience with controls software development
- Experience with safety-critical system/software development practices, such as those laid out in ISO-
- 26262, IEC-61508, or the JSSEH/MIl-STD-882.
The salary range for this role is an estimate and is based on a wide variety of compensation factors. The salary offered to candidates will vary based on a variety of factors including (but not limited to) relevant work experience, education, specialized training, critical expertise, training, and more. Equity in Forterra is included in most of our full-time, high-demand roles and is therefore considered part of Forterra's overall compensation package.
