Position Summary
An FSM WordPress Front-End Developer is responsible for building and maintaining high-performance websites that deliver exceptional user experiences. This position requires expertise in front-end technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript) and WordPress development, with a focus on translating Figma designs into pixel-perfect, responsive websites. Beyond technical skills, this role requires someone who can optimize site speed and performance, ensure accessibility compliance, and collaborate effectively with designers and back-end developers. This position reports to the Web Operations Manager.
FSM"s Ideal WordPress Front-End Developer Must Have:
- Technical Mastery. You"re proficient in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and WordPress development, with experience in Divi or other popular WordPress layout builders, theme customization, and child theme implementation.
- Design Excellence. You can accurately translate Figma designs into functional websites using Dev Mode, maintaining design system consistency and implementing pixel-perfect responsive layouts.
- Performance Focus. You understand Core Web Vitals, can optimize sites for 90+ Lighthouse scores, and know how to implement effective caching and optimization strategies.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop responsive, high-performance WordPress websites using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and the Divi theme framework.
- Accurately translate Figma designs into functional websites, maintaining design fidelity and implementing responsive behavior across all devices.
- Optimize website performance through image optimization, caching strategies, CSS/JavaScript minification, and Core Web Vitals improvements.
- Implement WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards and ensure cross-browser compatibility across Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge.
- Conduct comprehensive quality assurance testing across various devices and browsers, documenting and resolving any issues discovered.
- Provide ongoing website maintenance, technical support, and troubleshooting using browser developer tools and WordPress debugging methods.
- Create client training materials and conduct training sessions on content management, media uploads, and basic site administration.
- Collaborate with designers, back-end developers, and project managers to deliver projects on time and within scope.
- Write clean, well-documented, and maintainable code following WordPress coding standards and best practices.
- Stay current with web development trends, accessibility requirements, and performance optimization techniques.
Required Experience
- 2-5 years of professional front-end web development experience, with strong WordPress and Divi theme expertise.
- Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3 (including Flexbox and Grid), JavaScript, and responsive design principles.
- Experience with WordPress custom theme/plugin modifications, child theme development, and page builders (like Divi and Elementor).
- Hands-on experience with design tools like Figma and translating designs into functional websites.
- Knowledge of performance optimization tools (Google PageSpeed Insights, Lighthouse, etc.) and optimization plugins.
- Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG 2.2 AA) and cross-browser testing methodologies.
- Experience with managed WordPress hosting environments and DNS management.
- Strong problem-solving skills and systematic debugging approach using browser developer tools.
