At NASHP, we engage state leaders to solve problems and share best practices, conduct policy analyses and research, leverage state expertise to develop model policies, disseminate information on state policies and programs, and provide technical assistance to states.
We have an immediate opening for a Research Analyst on the Aging & Disability team to support state leaders in advancing innovative policy approaches to address the needs of older adults and adults with physical disabilities as a member of the Aging and Disability team.
Position Overview
The NASHP Research Analyst plays a key role in supporting the organization's mission to advance state health policy and the development and implementation of activities designed to assist state officials as they address health policy and program challenges.
This role focuses on research and content development for Aging & Disability projects including family caregiving, managed long-term services and supports, palliative care, and other emerging issues related to aging.
Primary Responsibilities
As a Research Analyst, you will be responsible for:
- Assisting in scheduling, planning, and executing calls, meetings, webinars, and training sessions
- Tracking state legislation, summarizing key information in publications.
- Assisting in developing and implementing NASHP conference sessions, which may extend to planning workshop content, securing and preparing speakers, and supporting state officials who serve on NASHP steering committees.
- Assisting in drafting, editing, and writing NASHP publications such as blogs, briefs, fact sheets, trackers, and reports
- Gathering information and conducting research on state policies and programs using online search methods, literature reviews, key informant interviews, surveys, legislative tracking, and case studies, and assisting in synthesizing and analyzing these policies and programs
- Contributing to the compilation and presentation of data and information in a manner that is concise and accessible to busy state officials
- Serve as a liaison between policy and communication teams to shepherd publications through the review process
- Contribute to the updating of policy/program resource development
- Representing NASHP at meetings and conferences
- Other duties as necessary

- Is proficient with technology and research skills (e.g., Microsoft Office programs, state website navigation, conduct online searches, etc.)
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in public policy, law, public health, or related areas, or equivalent of combination of education and experience;
- Experience in state government and/or state health policy is a plus
Physical Requirements
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Some travel will be required.
Working at NASHP
NASHP offers a flexible work schedule. We are currently operating in a hybrid work arrangement, with one to two days in the office each week, depending on distance from our Washington, DC office.
Compensation and Benefits
The salary range for this position is $52,000 - $56,000 annually. Your salary will be commensurate with your experience.
