The Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated Manufacturing Operations Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of our production operations to ensure efficiency, quality, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for managing daily operations, driving process optimization, leading cross-functional teams, overseeing facilities, and ensuring adherence to safety and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing leadership, excellent problem-solving skills, and a passion for operational excellence.
In this role you will be required to manage facility management activities for multiple locations across the US. You will be responsible for building a team to support manufacturing and supply chain operations for Goddard. As a manager you will create, and otherwise document processes and procedures necessary to support Operations, inclusive of manufacturing team members.
Responsibilities:
Production Management
- Oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations, including scheduling, staffing, production output, and workflow efficiency.
- Ensure timely delivery of high-quality products that meet customer and regulatory requirements.
- Lead production planning and ensure alignment with sales forecasts and inventory targets.
Team Leadership
- Manage and build a high-performing production team including supervisors, operators, and technicians.
- Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Provide coaching, training, and performance evaluations to build team capabilities.
Process Improvement & Efficiency
- Identify and implement lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives to increase throughput, reduce waste, and optimize resource utilization.
- Monitor KPIs and operational metrics to drive data-informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, and supply chain teams to improve processes and resolve issues.
Quality & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO, FDA, OSHA).
- Work closely with Quality Assurance to investigate non-conformances, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Maintain accurate documentation and support audits or inspections as needed.
Facilities Management
- Oversee the maintenance, cleanliness, and safety of the manufacturing facility.
- Coordinate preventive and corrective maintenance schedules for production equipment and building systems (HVAC, utilities, lighting, etc.).
- Ensure facility compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations.
- Manage contractors and vendors for facility services including janitorial, landscaping, security, and repairs.
- Support space planning, renovations, and layout changes to accommodate growth or operational improvements.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with R&D, Engineering, and Supply Chain teams to support new product introduction (NPI) and scale-up efforts.
- Manage vendor and supplier relationships in collaboration with procurement.
- Participate in strategic planning and budgeting processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations Management, or related field.
- 7+ years of experience in manufacturing operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial or leadership role.
- Proven track record of implementing lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Strong understanding of quality systems and regulatory standards (ISO 9001, ISO 13485, FDA QSR, etc.).
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office; experience with MES or production tracking systems a plus.
- Experience managing facilities and coordinating with external service providers.
- Ability to create procedures, work instructions or other written material preferred.
- Experience in medical device, aerospace, or other regulated manufacturing industries a plus.
- Lean Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) preferred.
