SUMMARY: This position is filled by a registered nurse who, as a result of educational and clinical experience in nursing, possesses the knowledge and clinical skills necessary to provide nursing care; applies knowledge to act as a change agent, role model and leader; coordinates the care of patients within the patient population; ensures quality focused and cost-effective care delivery outcomes; utilizes theory, research, and specialized knowledge to plan care for the patient; functions within a collaborative practice to enhance quality of care; interprets, evaluates and communicates research findings; and participates in continuous quality improvement activities.
Responsible and accountable for direct patient care for assigned patients on the nursing unit and providing leadership within the nursing team. Responsible and accountable for the care given to the patient and for the decision regarding which nursing tasks can be safely delegated to licensed and unlicensed persons involved in patient care. Must be competent in a wide variety of nursing skills. Responsible for adhering to all standards of nursing care and promoting a team effort among co-workers. Responsible and accountable to know, own and energize the vision, mission, values and standards of the hospital.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Licensure: Current AR or Compact State RN license in good standing.
Experience: Minimum of one-year experience is preferred.
Certification: BLS required.
Other: Ability to read, write and communicate effectively. Basic computer knowledge required.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job with or without an accommodation. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to perform the following: Must have the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, to solve problems and make decisions. Occasionally requires lifting of 50 pounds or more of equipment, able to push in excess of 150 pound wheelchair with patient and equipment, and occasionally lifts patients with assist 125 pounds or more using proper body mechanics. Spends eight hours or more in front of computer, monitor or similar screen utilizing keyboard and/or mouse. Must be able to respond quickly in emergency situations of CPR and obtaining equipment. Must be able to handle critical and highly stressful situations with efficiency and composure. Has a keen sense of hearing and keen visual acuity to respond to critical changing patient situations from actual observations and/or equipment alarms. May be subject to inside environmental conditions, hazards (including electrical currents and exposure to high heat and chemicals) and infectious diseases.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a position in a hospital setting which is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Potential for work on rotating shifts. Holiday and work during inclement weather will be required. You may be asked to work longer hours and assignments may change during your shift. Floating to other areas is occasionally required based on hospital needs. Seasonal call shifts are required.
