Overview
The People Operations Generalist is a key member of the People Operations (HR) team, responsible for supporting a wide range of responsibilities to foster a positive and compliant workplace. This role involves managing employee relations, facilitating the offboarding processes, performance management, policy management, and organizational compliance. The People Operations Generalist will also play a critical role in supporting employee engagement and retention strategies across Stellar Virtual.
Essential Duties
- Benefits Administration
- Oversee benefits enrollment, changes, and inquiries, serving as a point of contact for employees regarding benefit options and eligibility.
- Communicate and organize benefit resources to eligible employees across the organization and maintain compliance with federal and state regulations for all benefits.
- Submit annual benefit reports (1094-C/1095-C) in partnership with Finance.
- Monitor unemployment claims and provide timely responses (multi-state).
- Employee Relations
- Respond to employee inquiries regarding policies, procedures, and other people-oriented topics, providing guidance and timely support (through Salesforce).
- Act as an initial contact for employee relations matters, assisting in conflict resolution, employee concerns, and workplace issues as they arise.
- Collaborate with the People Operations (HR) Director for cases, including escalations and formal complaints, providing regular updates and recommendations.
- Partner with the People Operations (HR) Director to foster a positive work culture that values inclusivity, respect, and employee well-being.
- Offboarding
- Administer offboarding processes, including exit interviews, to ensure a compliant and positive employee departure experience.
- Process employee and contractor separations in Rippling and monitor offboarding workflows to verify procedures maintain full compliance in this function.
- Maintain accurate and complete employee records to comply with legal requirements.
- Review exit surveys regularly and set action items where necessary to address concerns or issues that may impact the organization.
- Compliance
- Assist with developing, implementing, and communicating organizational policies and procedures that reflect best practices and comply with applicable laws.
- Audit annual compliance training in Mineral for employees and contractors to reach 100% completion annually.
- Evaluate training materials and update where required to ensure 100% compliance.
- Performance Management
- Lead and manage the quarterly People Analyzer process, ensuring timely delivery and participation across all teams (90% Completion Rate or Higher).
- Provide training and support for managers on how to effectively complete People Analyzer reviews, including calibration sessions and documentation best practices.
- Analyze data from quarterly reviews to generate insights and make recommendations that support workforce planning, recognition, and development.
- Engagement & Retention
- Identify and track professional development trends based on People Analyzer feedback, surfacing growth opportunities and areas of concern.
- Collaborate on individual development plans, coaching strategies, and performance improvement support where appropriate.
- Monitor employee engagement levels through performance data, surveys, check-ins, and informal feedback loops.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to engagement, turnover, and retention; provide quarterly reporting and insights to leadership.
Knowledge, Skills & Attributes
- At least 5 years of experience in Human Resources, with a focus on compliance, benefits administration, employee relations, conflict management, and employee engagement.
- Strong knowledge of People Operations (HR) laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Knowledge of the Google Workspace platform (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Drive, Meet, Chat, etc.)
- Dedication to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
- Strong interpersonal and coaching skills; able to influence and support employees at all levels.
- Data-driven mindset with the ability to interpret feedback trends and translate them into action.
- Exceptional organizational, communication, and follow-through skills.
- Prior experience in a virtual work environment or education setting is preferred.
Education & Certification Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in HR, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification is required.

For W-2 employment, Stellar Virtual is an at-will employer. This means the employee and Stellar Virtual can terminate the employment at any time, with or without cause or notice, as legally permitted.
