DESCRIPTION OF POSITION

A Registered Professional Nurse, who under the supervision of the Emergency Department Manager, is responsible for the nursing care of patients assigned to him/her, and to direct others in patient care. The Emergency Department nurse maintains competence within, and accountability for, emergency nursing practice. The emergency nurse exercises sound judgment in accepting responsibility, delegating and seeking consultation. The emergency nurse respects the individuals right to privacy and confidentiality. QUALIFICATIONS

Professional/Educational
-
Current Illinois Registered Professional Nurse license.

Current certification in Basic Life support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) or Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course. BLS, ACLS and PALS must be from the American Heart Association

Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS) and/or Trauma Nursing Core Curriculum (TNCC) and ECRN preferred.

1 year experience required.

DCFS Mandated Reporter Certificate of Completion required.
